Wifi Problem

Hi, I'm new to the forum but hopefully somebody can help me out with a problem I'm having.

I have an Acer Liquid and it's suddenly stopped recognising my router which I connect to through WiFi. It has worked fine for the past 6 weeks but just suddenly stopped working yesterday. It was set up to remember the password etc but it would say 'not in range' even though I was.

I have tried scanning with the default wireless app and also Wifi Buddy and WiFiScanner (both downloaded after the wifi stopped working properly). All of these pick up my neighbours Wifi access points but none display my router. I have tried the option to 'forget' the settings and to start again and also to manually enter my routers SSID and password through the 'Add Wi-Fi network' option, neither has worked.

No settings were changed on the router itself (it's a D-Link router, WPA2 Personal and the SSID is set to be broadcast / not invisible). I checked through every single setting on the router to make sure nothing had changed. Also, 2 Xbox 360s, an extra PC and my laptop are all still able to connect fine without any problems.

I've tried resetting the router, wiping it clean and starting again etc. Also tried changing the SSID, changing the security settings. Still had no luck after all of this.

I was able to connect to the open wireless network at my uni without any problems, and as I already mentioned it does show up all of my neighbours access points etc.

There must be something on the phone which is telling it to ignore my router - I have no idea what it could be. I've looked through all of the WiFi settings on my phone - but again, nothing was different to how it was before. Does anybody have any suggestions?

My phone isn't rooted, in the 'About' section it says the following:

Device info version - 1.1

Product SKU - EMEA_GEN1

Product revision - 1.0

Thanks in advance.

I have kind of solved this problem. Well, not solved but I have found a way around it.

Through trial and error I have found it's the SSID (network name) that seems to be affecting whether the wireless network is displayed. If I have the word 'Home' in the name it doesn't show up on my Liquid (works fine with every other device). It doesn't matter if 'Home' is at the front, middle or end of the name it still disappears completely off the list of networks on my Liquid.

Once I change the SSID name to something completely different it works no problem.

The name of my network before all this started happening was 'Homenet'. I have absolutely no idea why it should just stop working overnight, or why having 'Home' in the name should now make it become invisible to my Liquid.

So if anybody else also has their WiFi mysteriously disappear then the first thing to try is changing the SSID in the router settings.
