Video recorded from Omnia

Hello guys.

I have a question to ask, hopefully someone might be able to answer:

I got a few videos taken from my omnia while the phone was in portrait orientation instead of landscape which is the normal video recording mode. For this reason the videos appear rotated when viewed on the pc. Is there a way to rotate those videos back to normal orientation for viewing. Or alternatively is there a way to record videos the right way up while the omnia is in portait mode (perhaps there is a video capture software that enables this?)

Thanks guys, any reply is appreciated!

Take care

I've used "Windows Live Movie Maker" which is free (updated Windows Movie Maker that came with some XP versions) to brighten up a video taken. Checking now, it has the option to rotate the entire video.

Most video editing software should handle that task very easily.

Thanks, I've already tried that and you are right, it does rotate the video. I don't know if i am doing anything wrong though as it seems that i cannot rotate the video in that program without losing the sound from the clip.....

ahhhh, codec problem.

round about way, but just tested and it worked:

put the video on youtube, go to your uploaded video section and click the "download as .mp4" then import to Live Movie Maker, rotate, and voila.

kinda of a pain, but doesn't take very long at all.

you could look into codecs for the cell video format, and if the audio plays normally in windows media player, you should be good to rotate/save in movie maker.

Ok my friend. Thanks a lot. I will try and hunt down some codecs then. Somebody in a website suggested that i should download k-lite codec pack and it should be fine afterwards. I've got that codec pack installed already and still face the current situation but i'll see if reinstalling it solves the problem. Thanks for the assistance.

Thanx lanedava! I've tried that software and it does the job! It's a two step process though but still it does the job perfectly. I've tried converting the file to AVI first (the video rotate mode only allows a video to be saved as AVI) and rotating it and the converted video was once again lacking sound. Then I remembered what the previous user said, converted first to flash .flv video and then rotated the flv video and saved as AVI and voila....video with sound. You can carry out both steps within the software. Nice one!
