Guest MoWeb Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 I just saw this posted here http://www.ADVERT LINK REMOVED.com/htmls/First-gen-...cle-a_9865.html I'm no expert but isn't the lack of an update for the Hero just Adobe not knowing how or refusing to optimize their code? Seems like a lazy effort to me. This really sucks if it's true. :(
Guest cTn Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 I really like Android, but with all this b... going on lately, when i replace my hero i will probably go for the next generation (yet unreleased) iphone... i wanted an linux phone, android got kicked from linux tree (thx google!) now it is just another platform on the market, and with all this waiting times for updates, cancel of latest flash (flash lite is practically useless with anything more complex then standard flash ad) i am just sick of it... my 500euro hero (money well wasted)
Guest MoWeb Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) What I don't understand is why companies are still making "Smartphones" with slower processors if Adobe (and others soon to follow) won't support them. Being able to fully utilize flash on a Smartphone should be standard in 2010 and what the consumer expects. Also, didn’t Adobe (or maybe that was HTC) say flash 10 would be available for the Hero when they discussed it sometime last year? Why the change of heart? Edited February 26, 2010 by MoWeb
Guest RaiderX303 Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Flash 10.1 will be on any 2.0+ rom, it will be downloadable from the adobe site when released, the leaked hero 2.1 roms already have flash player 10.1 working, just not that good performing.

Valid point. I wonder if they mean 1.5 phones??? Cos hero won't be soon :( But.. No, the HTC Hero will not be supported b/c it does not have the correct Android OS version and its chipset is not powerful enough. doesn't sound too good for the latter part. But IMHO it will be fine, as some devs will sort it out I hope...
Guest The_IMF Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 I hate the f*cking iphone... refuse to get one... sort it out Android phone manufacturers!!
Guest Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 I hate the f*cking iphone... refuse to get one... sort it out Android phone manufacturers!! The iPhone definitely won't be getting Flash in any variety so it's not that relevant here. :(
Guest hp1 Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Maybe I'm missing a trick here but can someone explain to me what the need for full flash on a smartphone is anyway? Very few websites other those that stream flash video actually use flash for content. Its usually used for advertising and games, and other non added value content. If developers of website are now relying on this one piece of technology in order to deliver content to web users, then they they have designed their websites badly.
Guest Dr. dre Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 I think we'll be having flash support 10.1, once we have Android 2.1 on our Hero's.
Guest TheAshMan Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) The HTC Hero WILL NOT be getting the Flash 10.1 update: Hi all, You can expect the final release for Android to be available mid-year. All Android devices that meet our minimum s/w and h/w requirements will be supported. Unfortunately, I cannot say a lot more publicly about our port to the Android platform at this time. As for WinMo, we have made the tough decision to defer support for that platform until WinMo7. This is due to the fact that WinMo6.5 does not support some of the critical APIs that we need. As for your other questions: * Yes, we will support the Motorola Milestone. * No, the HTC Hero will not be supported b/c it does not have the correct Anroid OS version and it’s chipset is not powerful enough. We require a device with an ARM v7 (Cortex) processor. Examples include the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets and TI OMAP3 series. Best regards, Antonio Maybe developers can hack the Hero to work with it on custom ROMs (which can be made to perform better than stock ROMs anyway).
