Trying to install dropbear...now getting no radio connectivity

I am currently messing around with various ROMs and am currently running Mr.Bangs 1.8b ROM which is a 1.5 ROM with various speed/performance tweaks. All was well until I tried installing dropbear then something went seriously wrong.

I'm a total n00b at this but here's what I've done so far...

1) Ripped the dropbear and dropbearkey binaries and the dropbear.sh file from Paul's 3.2b5 ROM

2) Packaged them up into an update.zip and signed the file

3) Flashed the update.zip

4) CHMOD'ed all the files to 755 after reboot

5) Run the dropbear.sh script

6) Rebooted.

Step 5 appeared to run OK and the password files are all in /data/dropbear but upon rebooting after running the script I am getting no radio service at all, my SIM is PIN protected and I usually get a prompt to enter the PIN...nothing, wifi won't engage and a couple of apps force close on boot.

I'm guessing somewhere along the line something is failing and stopping the boot process dead in it's tracks but where do I begin? Yes, I could just flash the ROM back again (and yes, I should have taken a nandroid but I've flashed 5-6 ROMs over the last day or so, I wasn't expecting to stick with this :( )

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Nothing shouts 'n00b' more than posting in the wrong chuffing forum!! Don't even know how I got here :(

if that ain't a coincidence... me browsing the nexus forum just for fun, finding some hero problems... you might wanna repost this in the hero section. while you're at it attach a logcat of the complete boot process, i had this problem myself.

if this problem still exists, 4 days with a broken phone seems to long :(
