Guest emajano Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 I am in the same situation of you, i´m waiting for an answer. Thanks
Guest sede Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Hi all, I also bought this nice phone few days ago. On the weekend played with flashing ROMs on it. I am using Linux on all of my computers, but fortunately had a partition on a laptop with Vista which I can use to upload the .bin files, all other things work on Linux, too. I had the same problem yesterday, flashed the 1.1.1 Community ROM (2.1 firmware) but had problems with the sim card and the phone radio stopped working. The wifi worked, I was able to select apps for install, but they didn't download and install. The "about phone" showed no baseband version. Later on I restored the old 1.6 system from the nandroid backup and everything worked again. I began to read the forum again and found this: NOTE #2:"YOU CANNOT FLASH THIS ON A 1.6 FIRMWARE YOU NEED THE NEW RADIO SO FLASH THE BIN FIRST, READ THE HOW TO INSTALL IN 3RD POST" check this link: http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...uide-v1-8-2-21/ So looks like to have the radio working with 2.1 firmware you have to flash the new .bin posted in the above topic, also need the acer download tool (A1_DL_TOOL) for the flash. As I read the changes can not be reverted, so the 1.6 firmware can't be reinstalled. After all I decided not to install the bit slow and buggy 2.1 based systems for now, just used another 1.6 based ROM listed here (the 920MHz one): http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...d-instructions/ Soon I will upgrade to 2.1 when the official ROM will be out, and the ROMS will be more stable and fast.

Since I am with the mentioned AAP-CPL HK rom and was thinking to flash my first custom rom soon I am interested what rom to choose. I have experience with android already, but this was on my old HTC Kaiser while trying to make it run android :( but things there are so more safe. I have done lots of reading and as long as I understood when you flash .bin file with acer tool it flash radio and everything. So my quiestion is why cannot return to 1.6 rom from 2.1 using the original .bin? And one more thing: is there a problem if I flash my Liquid with any other bin different from AAP_CPL?
Guest chingy1788 Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 (edited) I have a HK Acer Liquid originally running 1.001.05-AAP-CSL You guys can flash to 2.000.16 EMEA GEN1 .bin file and that would work fine but right now there is absolutely no way to revert to 100% 1.001.05-AAP-CSL for warranty purposes These forums carry the system.img for 1.001.05-AAP-CSL, but that is not enough, there are other partitions too, such as boot.img and recovery.img you can make a nandroid backup of all your non rooted, non flashed firmware, but then you need the 1.001.05-AAP-CSL's Radio, which we dont have But, someone has reportedly been able to perform warranty on a Liquid with 1.008.00 EMEA GEN1 .bin I am currently running 2.000.16 EMEA GEN1 with Angio's ACR 1.5.1 with disc0's 920MHz boot.img I suggest updating your liquid to 2.000.16 EMEA GEN1 for any bug fixes from Acer. If you guys want Eclair/Android 2.1 you need to first flash to the Android 2.1 bin "Acer_LiquidE_0.003.07_EMEA_GEN1" Then adding the latest LCR Rom But I find Android 2.1 to be significantly slower than Android 1.6, even with all of LCR's tweaks benhamms is apparently trying to get cyanogenmod 2.1 to run on the Acer Liquid if that works, then Android 2.1 with cyanogenmod would be, or should be super fast compared to the current Android 2.1 roms. Well... atleast as fast as the current Android 1.6 Roms Edited February 28, 2010 by chingy1788
Guest cv4004 Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Are you use 2G? If yes, please change network setting to 2G only. I see sometimes phone cannot switch to 2G automatically.
Guest chingy1788 Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 i swap between 2G and 3G usually its on 3G and automatically switches to 2G and yes, some times it doesnt switch to 2G (usually poor reception)
Guest Xmoo Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 This is no Issue of radio or whatsoever. The Liquid uses QNC for his SIM. Sometimes this QNC doesn't install properly, and the Liquid gets the "No SIM" Issue. How to fix it? Flash a stock rom using the Acer Download Tool. Check the "Select QNC file manualy" (or something like that) Go to: C:\A1_QCN (Mayb a diffrent drive on ur pc, but the folder should be the same) Select the .xml file. And flash, if everything is correct... Your SIM will work again :( Good luck!

Guest Borkata Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 While searching info about how AAP-CSL rom can be restored to stock I found this: 1.with ACER's RUNME.EXE tools flash ACER_A1_0.029.03_EN_1930829086b441ed9606df778a27d862.bin or Acer_Liquid_1.008.00.............bin 2.with fastboot.exe tool flash "system.img" in " 1.001.05-AAP-CSL-images" rom ....only system.img file 3.root This way you should be back to stock rom and maybe radio will be ok, so sim card should be found.

Guest Borkata Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 i need the 1.001.05-AAP-CSL rom...and ACER's RUNME.EXE ...you know from where i can download That is the problem. I have same rom, but there is no .bin in Internet so you can use it directly with the acer tool. The solution I gave is one that I found in the forum using other version of .bin and especially this one and after that recover the system.img for 1.001.05-AAP-CSL which you can find here in the forum.
Guest eViL D: Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 I have the AAP-CSL too, but did not have issues flashing. Did you guys WAIT until the flashing process finished %100 the first time? Have you also tried another SIM?

Guest Borkata Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 i need ACER's RUNME.EXE please http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...ad-tool-for-a1/ this is Acer Tool it should contain RUNME.EXE. The rom you need is http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6FTWF1QU After you flash the above you should put lickon's recovery and restore with nandroid 1.001.05-AAP-CSL system.img and recovery.img.
Guest xian1243 Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) @xmoo You shouldn't be sharing those XMLs and the/files/information from the Acer Tool as they contain DEVICE SPECIFIC information. You are essentially cloning our devices ID's and IMEI's... so please stop... it is not even legal to do so. Sorry for speaking French, but I believe that since his is of French origin, it might be easier to understand the consequences of sharing one's device ID. There is another thread, that was recently closed, for this specific reason, so unless you want more problems, please, just stop. EDIT: Sorry, I misread the flag... you're in Holland, so you speak Dutch, not French. XD But you still shouldn't be sharing the XMLs... Edited March 3, 2010 by xian1243
Guest phydor Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 can someone upload 1.001.05-AAP-CSL-images.zip..it seems that is not uploaded anymore...

Guest Meezu Posted December 17, 2010 Report Posted December 17, 2010 Have same issue after upgrading to android 2.2. Sim card disappear after couple of hours. After rebooting sim card appears again for hour or two. How to fix it? As to op: I had the exact same problem once I got the phone but after a reboot or two without being connected to usb my phone finally found the sim card. As for the problem above: Well I have it as well sometimes but only in what I recon to be poor reception areas. Will check this again once I'm back in Finland since I've never had poor reception back there.
Guest btard Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Looks like it was broken sim-card. lol
