Guest linuxluver Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) I just received a 2nd-hand Acer Liquid A1 today. I had adb all set up and running for use with my HTC Magic and I've added a line to UDEV rules to let me have access to the Liquid. So far, so good. I've did successfully flash lickonn's recovery.....but for the life of me can't get my phone to boot into recovery. When i try "adb shell reboot recovery" it says I don't have permission. When i try any of the button combos, I either get bootloader or the normal boot. The button combos for this phone are a heck of a lot more complicated than for the Magic! It's like hand gymnastics. Can anyone share with me the secret of getting the recovery booted? What buttons and in what order? The build is Acer_Liquid_2.000.16_EMEA_GEN1 Thanks! Edited March 1, 2010 by linuxluver

Maybe this is your solution: To enter bootloader with 2.0016 Camera + Back + Power (pressed in this specific order), USB cable plugged WFM...
Guest linuxluver Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Maybe this is your solution: Thanks.......but, no... That's bootloader. Booting Recovery turned out to be: 1. Power off 2. Volume Down + Camera + Power (gives 3 vibrations) 3. Press Power by itself....and you boot into Lickonn's recovery if you had already flashed it. Reboots into recovery every time. I was searching all over the place and fount it mentioned in some ROM-flashing instructions in a random thread.

This combination should be added to topic with hardware keys :( One question why using Lickon's recovery for 2.000.16? As long as I have read his recovery has the old kernel.

I've had my Acer Liquid for 4 days. There is a lot I don't know. If I don't use Lickconn's recovery with 2.000.16 then what should I use? I have been using HTC Magic and is it much less sensitive to these kinds of variations. You can wipe / flash many different ROMs (1.5, 1.6 2.0 and 2.1) and they all work fine with the same stock radio/baseband. I also don't know how to use the Acer download tool yet. I'm reading and thinking and learning. But I can backup my phone and wipe it and restore it and I have root....so that's not too bad for 4 days on a new phone. :-) But I want a nice stable Android 2.1 ROM with apps2sd and multitouch.
Guest kylenk Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 download quickboot from the market. It'll let you boot into recovery without hw button combinations. Pretty useful :(
Guest linuxluver Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 download quickboot from the market. It'll let you boot into recovery without hw button combinations. Pretty useful :( Had a look. It says it's for 2.0 and 2.1. I'm on 1.6. I installed it anyway. Booted into Recovery OK. Booted to bootloader OK. (You pull the battery to get out of that mode?) It works fine on (rooted) Acer Liquid 2 2.000.16 EMEA GEN1. Ta! :-)
