Guest ak888 Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Been using 1.7 rom for a while but never bothered with formatting the sd card so all apps were installed on phone. As I was running out of space I used QuickBoot and followed the phone to format the card with 0Mb swap, 512 ext2. Then I upgraded ext2 to ext3 then rebooted. Tried to download a couple of apps but these all fail to install. I checked the card and can see my previous apps have been transferred to the card. Why are new apps failing to install? Is there any where where I can check a log file or similar to see the cause? Any help appreciated.
Guest bencoder Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Try going into the recovery mode, going to "partition sd card" and going on the "fix ext partition" option and then go back and reboot. It's an issue that happens every time you restart the phone. (Of course you might have a different problem, but it sounds like the same symptoms)

I couldn't find a thread about it (may be wrong search terms).
Guest twe Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 yes this is a known problem. Can't see a good reason to use this just yet for myself so have not added a partition ext* to my sd card and installed everything on the phone memory.
Guest brack Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Is there any way to "fix ext partition" without reboot into recovery mode?
Guest BigBearMDC Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Is there any way to "fix ext partition" without reboot into recovery mode? I'm working on it. I'll try to add this to the init.rc, but it doesn't work yet. Greetings, BigBear

Greetings, BigBear A partition check is already in the apps2sd init script. but for some odd reason it's never fix's the SD system/bin/a2sd # fsck the sdcard filesystem first e2fsck -y /dev/block/mmcblk0p2;
Guest brack Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I spent over an hour (all together) today installing two apps.... HATE a2sd after all. The story is like this - I install one app it wont install I restart and fix ext partition, reboot, and get numerous fc "com.google.process.gapps", going to apps management and clear data of all Gmail related things, reboot and cannot install apps again, going to recovery, fix ext partition, reboot again, able to install one app, trying to install another one without success, going through all the process above again.... Now will sit and make a list of software that I want to leave, and will move back to using internal memory. Tired and frustrated, missed a long waited call, hate this system after all.
