Guest Dr. dre Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Ok the thing is my college is having a WiFi connection, the problem is that I am not able to connect to it because the computer guy over there says that this WiFi connection is only meant for computer(laptops or desktops) because of some IP address thing. I can use all other WiFi connection, there is no such problem with my phone or WiFi connection. So is there a walkaround for this, if anybody can help.
Guest Roton Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) He lies. You can use dhcp or manually set an ip on the Hero. Edited March 2, 2010 by Roton
Guest descenpet Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 the problem i have with hero's wifi is that it can't detect wireless networks that have SSID broadcast disabled, be it on MCR or stock rom.

Guest Dr. dre Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 He lies. You can use dhcp or manually set an ip on the Hero. Ok what's a DHCP and to set it up manually should I set the static IP in the advanced panel of WiFi or if there is any other app on market.
Guest Roton Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Ok what's a DHCP and to set it up manually should I set the static IP in the advanced panel of WiFi or if there is any other app on market. dhcp is dynamic, where you will be assigned an ip. You cannot set a static ip because you do not know which ip you have permission to use. Leave it on dhcp and just ask the guy the settings for the network (ssid, encryption, password).
Guest descenpet Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 It can if you use a program like "hidden ssid enabler". Doesn't work for me. I don't really use WiFi much so I don't really care about it. Thanks anyway.

Can I get this from market or somewhere else.
Guest descenpet Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Can I get this from market or somewhere else. Hero by itself is just perfectly capable of dhcp. You don't need to get anything else. Just settings for the network.

I'm sorry to say but that guy is an idiot he doesn't even know what is a ssid, but the thing is my device detects the WiFi networks of my college but when I put the password and connect to it it shows me unsuccessful. Do I still need the ssid even if it detects the networks. Help please!!!
