[SOLVED] ERE27 Root with Himem - Memory card access resets device!

Hey all,

I'm having a hell of a time keeping my N1 running during any intensive reads/writes on the memory card. I'm currently running MoDaCo's ERE27 Root with the himem kernel. The device was not resetting before it was rooted. I'm using a 16GB Class 2 SDHC from Sandisk. Currently I don't have another SD to test it with. Until I can get one, what's the consensus on this? Bad root? Bad SD? Bad device?

Xposted on XDA, someone there said they have the same issue with MDC ERE27 Himem.

Thoughts?

EDIT SOLVED: I ran the ERE36B root thinking it would upgrade the firmware and re-root, and with the worst case scenario that I have a backup and I could just flash stock. For some reason, sending the ERE36B root didn't upgrade (whoops, n00b lesson learned!) but it DID solve the problem. Everything is solid thus far. I was able to copy 12GB of music off, and then back on the device, no crashes.

can you do 'adb logcat' while this happens?

i got a sandisk 16gb class2 card too, works flawless. could be all the things you mentioned, logcat might help

Which revision of this MCR are you using? The earlier kerne wasn't very stable, so that may be the problem

Same problem for me, stock Nexus ROM + Superboot for ERE27 with himem enabled from here.

Happens when copying large amounts of data to/from 16 GB Class 6 SD card via USB and also by applications (crashed with backup application reading its data).

Last lines from logcat:

I/CheckinService( 88): Checkin triggered: Intent { act=android.server.checkin.CHECKIN flg=0x4 (has extras) }, market only = false

D/dalvikvm( 88): GC freed 11005 objects / 1757488 bytes in 98ms

D/dalvikvm( 88): GC freed 16 objects / 812808 bytes in 86ms

I/CheckinService( 88): Sending checkin request (75732 bytes)...

It was the 12/Feb version of ERE272 Himem. I don't know that much about ADB. Maybe a reflash would help?
