Hi All,

new to this forum, but browsed it for quite a while.

Had an omnia i900 for about a year now, when I got it (UK, Vodafone), I updated it with the latest ROM from the Samsung website.

Its been ok till couple of weeks ago - suddenly started to loose battery very quickly and was freezing quite a bit.

Decided to do a bit or research and think it may be beneficial for me to look at a new rom.

Noticed the noob's guides to flashing and will use them when updating, but I do have a couple of questions that I can't find the answer too (i've look at the site, the stickies and searched)

My omnia has Windows 6.1 professional (as shown in Start>Settings>about). I note that most (if not all) of the published ROMs refer to WM 6.5 (which I presume to be Windows Mobile 6.5). How can I upgrade, or is it actually neccesary to prior to using one of these ROMs?

Secondly (and this may be a very subjective question!), any reccomendations which ROM to look at? I've seen more than a few around, several with glowing testamonials.

All help would be appriciated - thanks for reading!

No expert myself so correct me if Ive got it wrong but you dont get WM6.5 on an official 900 ROM. Thats (some) of the point of using an unofficial one. Still building up to trying one myself.....

Right, so when the ROMs contain "WM 6.5" in the title that means the Rom upgrades (either formally or informally) to Windows Mobile 6.5?

That would make a bit of sense, as I know you can't upgrade to 6.5 formally through windows.

Yes, these are informal, custom roms that upgrade you to windows mobile 6.5. Much better than 6.1 in my opinion and..almost everyones from what I can gather.

there is no formal upgrade, nor will there be one for the omnia, so go ahead and get flashing guys, totally worth it.

as for finding a rom, just look around and find what one you think you'd like best, if you don't, you can always flash again, I've flashed countless times.

I can't recommend one for the i900 because I have an i910, sorry.
