Guest Chimp Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 I have a kitchen now working fine under Windows 7 (Home Premium); however, the last time I tried to use the UMDL flasher, it wouldn't work. It acted as though it didn't 'see' the Omnia. I had the Mobile Device Connection USB turned off so I know that wasn't a problem. Is there some special procedure or driver I need to get the UMDL to work properly so I can flash under Win7? It would save me switching back and forth between XP and Windows 7. Any advice appreciated. Thanx. /Chimp

I use 32bit at home and 64bit at work and have successfully flashed on both without any extra work than the xp guide. I would try switching the usb mode to mass storage and see if it installs drivers. then go back to activesync. Also try soft reseting and hard resetting the phone while it's connected to the usb. win7 seems to install some different drivers there.

Guest lilaznal Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) For me, Win 7 64bit at first it wouldnt work but this is how i got it to work. Put UMDL compatibility to vista, ran as administrator, opened flash, pressed detect, plugged it in, and a box pops up when it finds the phone. More boxes pop up after the first one. Then there is less than 30 seconds to get rid of all the popups before the phone loads up. try it out, maybe it'll work. i havent set WMDC to not detect usb. the umdl sees it first. Guest Chimp Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 Thanks all, I got it to work. After plugging it in couple of times a driver got installed and it then worked fined.

Guest repilce Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Probably because winamp tries to load the driver for music storage.
