Guest Willz Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) I thought I'd make a new thread, as my phone arrived today and I'm now having a play around with it. I tried going to the Android Market, but I had to create a googlemail account. So I did that, then tried to sign in and it wouldn't let me. I also checked my credit and I have £0 when I should have £10 prior to buying the phone since it tops up £10. I did check a piece of paper that came with it and it said it could take 48 hours for the credit to load onto the phone, so is that when all of the other services like the internet will become available on my phone, or do I have to activate it? Since I should have 6 months free internet, so going on the internet without any credit shouldn't be a problem. Someone help, please. <_< edit: I just tried connecting again to get what it says and it says, "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care." Edited March 7, 2010 by Willz
Guest Azurren Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 I don't know if it is necessary but when I got my Pulse (Contract) I was sent several text messages to "Set up" my phone for both internet and MMS.
Guest Willz Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 Oh. Well, I have just received a text about my free 6 months internet, so I activated that and I got a reply saying it's all good. But I can't seem to get on the internet still, I don't understand this. D:

I got the 6 months web message and set that up, but the credit is still missing. Connecting via wifi is working fine, but trying to use gprs or 3g doesn't seem to work. Might just be because of my horrible t-mobile signal at home.

I just tried my contract sim in the phone and could get a data connection, so it obviously is an issue with the payg sim/account. I thought it might be because I hadn't got my £10 topup, so I tried to add some credit to the account. £5 said it exceeded the maximum (??) as did £1 (???). I've emailed t-mobile about it (don't fancy spending several hours on hold) but if it's not fixed soon I'll just return the phone. This has made me remember why I don't like t-mobile.
Guest Willz Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Oh, I did try WiFi but no luck there either. I'm not sure if it even connects. It's a shame, I'm loving the phone so much right now though, it's gorgeous. My £10 credit hasn't come through yet either, so I guess I'll wait until then. Surely 3G should be available anywhere. My friend gets on the internet around here with his iPhone, so I don't see why I shouldn't get on too. Please let me know what you find out if they reply to your email. <_<
Guest summerlove Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 They've emailed me back to say they've added the credit. Internet is working now!
Guest Willz Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 OH, lucky you. Where did you email them at and what did you say? When did you get your phone too, by the way? <_<
Guest summerlove Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 OH, lucky you. Where did you email them at and what did you say? When did you get your phone too, by the way? <_< Yesterday, same as you! (sorry should've said that!). I emailed them via my t-mobile but the address [email protected] should work. I just said that I hadn't got my topup yet (and that I couldn't topup online) and that I had activated the free internet but couldn't get a data connection. Was really surprised that they got back to me so fast!

I want my internet and credit. <_<
Guest Willz Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 I FINALLY have my credit and internet. I think it's because they hadn't activated my phone yet. I had to call them up and ask about it. It makes me wonder when they'd actually decide to get around to activating it, really. Not a good start T-Mobile, not a good start..
Guest Speckles Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 This is the problem with mail order. I've had it before when the provider says the phone is always sent out in "delivery mode" and you have to ring the network to fully activate the phone for anything thats chargeable. If you buy in a shop, you can use it within 5 minutes typically as I found out. However, be warned, when they say "free internet and texts", they normally come into effect the month AFTER you activate the phone. I bought mine December and so were charged for all calls, texts and data use until the 1st of January when it became free. Its strange really, you can put £10 on a PAYG, but you don't get the rewards until the beginning of the next month either. T-Mobile say this is to ensure you get a full month, but its probably to make it easier for there systems as they only have to check once a month rather than every minute.
