Caffeine Dependent's thread is too messy, too many posts, people who want the statistics to help decide on the their 2.1 ROM will find it hard.

so i decided to make a new topic that has a poll...so people who havent switched over to 2.1 will have an easier time doing so!

Ones in bold are currently [11/MAR] ports of the Eris leak. This makes them EXTREMELY stable an FAST! Nearly everything is working, but there are a few minor bugs [e.g. no live wallpaper], thats 'cos the build is from DEC09, so quite old.

Hello all,

Since there are so many flavours of 2.1 ROMs around, I decided to do a little test with some of them (in my opinion, the more popular ones).

For the test I used the following ROMs:

* BeHero 1.3.2

* Legendary 1.3.5

* aHero 0.6.1

* aHero 0.7.1

* Villain 4.0 beta 2

* Villain 5.02

* Villain 5.1

* CyanogenMod for Hero 1.0

* Defiance 2.1

* Androbin 1.1110

* Legendroid 1.0.1

* Raidroid 1.1

Also the following for benchmarking:

For 3D Performance

* Qualcomm's "NeoCore" 1.9.18 - Measured in FPS

For 2D Performance

* Softweg's "Benchmark" 1.03 - Measured by an internal score

* "Lag test" - Originally to measure 2D performance for Motorola Droid users. Measured in FPS

For CPU Performance

* Linpack for Android - Measured in MFLOPS

All of the tests mean: The higher, the better.

The method of testing was the usual flashing, a couple of reboots to make sure every caching necessary was done and the average of 3 benchmark of each test.

Well, that's all I guess. "Legendroid 1.0.1" at the top with a whooping 30 FPS in NeoCore. "BeHero" with a superb performance in 3D what makes me think why it was not ported to the "Legendary" version, with Villain falling behind the others together with "Legendary" in every version tested.

Interesting to notice that normally with NeoCore, the difference between "nosound" and "withsound" it's of something around 3-4 FPS in average, with the exception of Villain 4.0 beta 2 that achieved a huge difference of 7 FPS.

Anyway, I will try to update this thread if there is interest in the community to know this kind of performance.

Also remember that this tests are solely to measure the 2D/3D performance of a ROM, what in no way can be used to measure if a ROM is better or worse then another. It's only for games and overall "snappiness".

Has anyone else had 2.1 one go a bit strange with the facebook sync. On 1.5 all it would do would sync the details and profile pictures of my contacts. On 2.1 it added all my friends from facebook's details to my contacts list?

As in instead of pulling details of the 60 people on my contacts list it added another 300 people <_<

I found BeHero to be the only build that supported a dictionary in Danish without any trouble. And strangely it was the only one where my Titanbackup would work O_o

Just gone to install the BeHero and did the following:

transferred update.zip > nandroid backup > wipe > applied update.zip

Now I'm getting all sorts of force close errors, from what I'm reading between the wipe and applying the update I should have flashed, but what is flashing?

Wipe, wipe cache then wipe EXT partition. THEN flash the ROM. I'd also recommend reformatting your sd card, it fixed some of my force close errors.

Current Eris leak is too old so it doesn't have live wallpaper or gallery 3D

Not to dismiss the guys achievements at all but these BeHero ROMs seem horribly rushed. 1.2 and 1.3 have both landed with major issues. I can't recommend him.
