Guest Android noob Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 Hey all, I've just been getting into the whole Android market recently and noticed some similarities to Linux (ehich I am a HUGE fan of).... So my first question is, can someone confirm that Android is mobile version of a Linux kernel? And my second one is, if so, is there a command line on the phones end? If so what kind o "linuxy" stuff can you do with it? Thanks, - Android Noob
Guest DougEdey Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Android is based off the linux kernel.
Guest Remington Steale Posted March 10, 2010 Report Posted March 10, 2010 Its based on Linux, and you can install various terminal programs to access the command line but its usually best/necessary to have a rooted phone first. Or use the Android SDK and run command line from your pc to do things.
