How to safely pay for an App' and some other questions?

BNIB PAYG Orange Hero with latest rom software version installed.

Hi, first post, never owned an Android, loads of questions but I'll try to keep them short.

I have scanned directly to the phone the app' WaveSecure, I can see it in the notification area.

I wish to pay for and install it but phone/program wants my payment method and card details and gives me a choice of which one to use.

I do have a Paypal account via my PC for auction purposes but not set up on the phone.

I would prefer to use my PC to download, pay then install all apps on to the Hero, that way I all so have a back up directly on the PC but I gather that is not always possible with free or paid for Apps'.

If the above is not possible is there a way I can pay for Apps' via my phone, inputting my card details, is this a safe thing to do and how do I do this securely?

I need to make sure I have a back up of everything on my Hero, Photos, Apps' SMS, Contacts and so on, I found a pay for App' called, Mybackup pro.

Will this App' do it for me, if so my understanding is it will save everything to the MSD card, but what is the procedure, best method to making a backup of what is on the MSD card and then on to my PC, is this possible?

The Orange Hero comes pre-installed with lots of apps'/programs, can I remove any of them, can I rename any of them, for example " People" could I rename it " Contacts " and how do I remove or rename?

Should I install an anti virus on the phone and which one?

Thinking way ahead, does the Hero have to be sim unlocked to any network before rooting?

Orange UK won't supply me an unlock code for a 12 weeks or so, I have read that most codes purchased on line won't work with the Orange Hero.

I don't require lots of names, could anyone confirm or not, can a Orange Hero be unlocked using a reliable web based company, has any one done so with an Orange Hero?

The best way I've found is to use Google Checkout, you can administer it all on your PC but the purchases get done via the phone/marketplace and it'll always ask which card you wish to pay from

you can pay for apps using google checkout it will ask you to set up a card for payments any thing on your sd card can be copied to a folder on the computer and when the phone is rooted any apps can be copied to the sd card. I dont think that antivirus is neccessary I thought wave secure was free until the end of this month if not root the phone and download a modaco rom with wavesecure imbedded in it 3.1/3.2
