Guest Down to earth Swede Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) In January I did the update to one of the leaked (modified?) roms, Acer_Liquid_2.000.05_AAP_GEN2_f8d011d17b574074b7775673cd56bf50. I wanna update the phone to the latest official ROM from acer, but reading the PDF;s, it is stated that it only supports updating from GEN1-versions(I'm in Sweden). I'm gonna root it eventually anyway, and I have been holding on to this factory ROM waiting for different updates (both the factory ROM and the 2.1-version of Android for the Liquid). Stupidly enough I didn't back it up when flashing it the first time. Thought it was taken care of automatically as it usually always do when you flash something(backs up the original before it is being flashed). Need I say that I'm completely new to smart phones? Since I will root it anyway, what is the best route for me to take? It would be nice to have some official non-leaked/non-modded version that I can backup, preferably the newest ones from Acer. Or at least some safe starting point that is common (maybe this one I have is), to get back to, but for warranties the best one is of course some of the official Acer versions. Backing this version I have now is mandatory, nandroid backup should be the way to do that, shouldn't it? Edited March 11, 2010 by Down to earth Swede
Guest rrunner1 Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 check this topic: http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...p-of-1-005-csl/ Short version: run the new rom with installer without phone connected, search your hd/temp files for the extracted .bin file, and flash that bin file using the old acer flash tool (that doesn't require region matching) Erik

Seems easy enough. Is there no need to rename the bin file (in the temp folder) that was created after the first "unattached phone" flash procedure before using it again when flashing the second time (now with the phone connected)?
Guest kylenk Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 no need to replace it. just copy it outta the directory because acer's d/l tool will delete it. I'm running the latest aus build stock, just replaced launcher with advanced launcher and the nexus drawer. runs great!
Guest Down to earth Swede Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Funny thing, the date modified for the tempfile is as old as 2010-01-26. Did they hold on to it for a while before releasing it officially or was it that old to begin with? (I haven't checked the updates of the Roms for a while)
Guest kylenk Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 i think they held off a while. I remember someone posting somewhere that the md5sums for the leak and the official were identical.
