Guest chris9181 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I have a Pulse which has not been modified, only the December update has been done. It has been running like a dream since I had it 2 months ago, but on turning on this morning I just see my home screen picture with no icons, clock etc, just blank. It lets me scroll either side to the side home screens (which are blank), the volume adj button also works, as does the on/off button which gives the usual options. Any ideas please?!!

Did you install some program yesterday, which may have caused this problem ?
Guest chris9181 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Did you install some program yesterday, which may have caused this problem ? The only thing I changed yesterday was my wallpaper (just to one of the bog standard that come with the phone). and I shifted some icons to the left side home screen so on my main home screen I just had the Weather widget clock (donate) and four remaining icons. The bizarre thing is that I am still receiving texts. Just had a text and the contact photo popped up with the text on the home screen. It looks like behind the scenes the phone is working ok, but I have nothing on the home screens or any way to get in to the phone!
Guest speedme Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Strange indeed.... Have you maybe installed a second Home replacement ? Try to download HomeSwitch(er) in the Market along with another Home program like PandaHero. Then try to set PandaHome as default Home. When that works, try to set your default Home back again.

But I can't do any of that as i have a blank home screen. Cant access anything, although can receive and reply to texts as they flash up on home screen! (I have been running Panda Home some time)
Guest speedme Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Do you perhaps have apps2sd running ? If so, you can try to go into recovery mode and do a repair ext. You can also try to use Nandroid backup (or Titanium backup) to backup your phone and after that try to restore default settings and put the backup back. Check the Wiki here on the stickies to see how to restore to default settings.

Sorry I really appreciate your help but I am so lame when it comes to tecky stuff (I don't understand or know what to do in respect of your suggestion). Could it be that I screwed things up when changing the wallpaper etc last night and not saving my homescreen? After a switch off last night and switch on again this morning have I some how got my default home set up stuck behind this new wallpaper I added. I am gutted!!!!! Edited March 12, 2010 by chris9181
Guest demusss Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 press your finger on the home screen for a couple of seconds. a popup should appear to add shortcuts. select this to add shortcuts to settings or whatever program you need.

I know what you mean, but nothing happens if if touch and hold homescreen. Buttons that do something are as follows: on/off button - still works and you get the usual option to mute sound, switch to airplane mode, turn off or see tasks running volume button on right hand side still works menu button - if I press, nothing happens, but if I press and hold, my keyboard pops up. Back button and end call button work. Incoming texts appear with photo of contact and I can reply (but only if somebody texts me!) As I changed wallpaper last night before turning off for night, should I have saved changes to Pandahome set up (is that anything to do with it?)

You should then get asked which homescreen you want to use, if you have mimore than one installed. If that works and you can get into the settings delete the data of the default homescreen. Guest speedme Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Or read the Wiki here : http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_U8220#Fastboot And reflash your phone with the December Update from T-Mobile. Mind you that you will loose all your phone-settings and sms, etc. Or you can read more and install a MCR together with Recovery ROM.

Guest chris9181 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Bizarre but blo*dy relieved, it is suddenly ok! Didn't do anything but this time when I swiped to unlock, everything is back. For future ref, I am using PandaHome, HTC hero Theme, but if I want to change the wallpaper how should I go about it and ensure that the new wallpaper is saved to that particular theme? Thanks to all of you for your assistance Chris
