Need Help with HTC Hero ROM & CIME

I'd like to ask someone to help me with a problem I'm having. I'm new to this Android community and recently bought a HTC HERO in Hong Kong. The phone originally had a Chinese IME setup in it. However, I decided to root it and then applying a new ROM. I followed the instructions via theunlockr.com website regarding rooting (RA-HERO-v1.6.2.) and installing a custom rom (3.2-update-hero-modacocustomrom-core-signed).

(Note: I was unaware of how to backup my data at the time, so I didn't manage to back anything up.)

This is where the fun begins. After I installed the new ROM (Modaco Custom ROM 3.2 Core, Kernel Version: 2.6.27, firmware 1.5, baseband version 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18), I lost all my Chinese IME. I tried added the customlocales and tried flashing it / installing Haykuro's Chinese IME; I tried installing Google PinYin; I tried installing other IME's, etc, but it failed to load every time. They show up on the Locale & Text in settings, but I can't change the keyboard like before to type SMS or anything in those languages. Before there would be an icon on the virtual keyboard to allow me to switch between IMEs.

Every time I do a clean wipe and reinstall the 3.2 mod, only English shows up as my language of choice and there are no other locales. I have tried installing more locales, but that only changes my phone's icon language.

However, when I installed 3.1-update-hero-modacocustomrom-core-chinese-signed-Sang-0112.zip, I managed to recover the CIME, but lost my mobile networks to go online with my phone. Even when I try to upgrade to 3.2, the mobile network is down.

I'm curious if anyone knows how to fix this problem of mine? I would love to have both browsing capabilities and have my CIME working again.

Sorry for this rather long post of information, I didn't know which was important and didn't want to leave any info out. Thanks in advance!
