I remember a few months ago teknlogist posted a performance tweak, whereby the processor runs at full banana as soon as the screen is unlocked. Did people find this worked? An is it installed in the roms these days, or does it have to be manually installed every time?

it is included since mck1.91, check the respective changelogs of the roms. at http://android.teknologism.org/ you can find updates for mcr and generic roms. it works great.
