Guest Jeremy Goh Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 Hello Just wondering whether is it advisable to delete off the stock htc messages application from my device as Handcent now totally replaces it. Will it cause problems? Because whenever I reply / receive a message from Handcent, the stock htc messages app will appear in my task manager. I have already disabled the notification in the stock messages app and I dont want the app to be a memory leak. Appreciate it. Thanks.

Guest theFRAGGLE Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 I do not know if you could delete the stock messaging app, but I would keep it. I saved it on the ignore list of my task manager and use chompSMS for messaging.

Perhaps someone with more insight in the inner workings of android can give an answer? If not I will make an nandroid backup, remove htc messages and see whats what and report back... /Magnus
Guest Fleming Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 Yes you can remove it, and no it doesnt affect the workings of handcent/chomp. I think the best way is removing Mms.apk via adb.
Guest Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I just use Autostarts to prevent the native app from loading up.
Guest Jeremy Goh Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Remove Mms.apk? Will that remove the mms functionality totally? I just wish to remove the stock messages app and widget in ADB and could someone advice me on how to do that? Thanks!
Guest Jeremy Goh Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) On second thoughts, it may not be a good idea: http://androidforums.com/sprint-htc-hero/1...ck-sms-app.html Edited March 15, 2010 by Jeremy Goh
