Guest ProFragger Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Hey Guys, I hope everyone is well. I had a quick and simple question. Please forgive me if it's too noob of a question, but if there was gonna be answer for this, I am sure I will find it here. So, as we all know the Verizon version of the N1 is on its way, real soon. After the Sense UI typo on the Verizon site, the most natural question is: For the ones of us that prefer the Sense UI, will we ever (in the near future) be able to get a ROM with Sense UI on the Verizon version of the N1? Maybe this is a question for Paul? The reason why I ask this is because obviously, the porting was simple for the Desire ROM onto the N1, because they are both GSM phones. Question is, can the Desire ROM be cooked onto the CDMA Verizon version, or will we just have to wait until HTC releases a device like that so that we can port that over to the Verizon N1? I think you guys get the picture. Thank you in advance for reading and sharing your expert feedback!

Paul has to acquire a VZW N1 to actually work on it. I personally told him, if he can't do it, then I will start the mission. I think I would by it for him if I has to. Why, if I want this, but this OS is needed. Then we need to take initiate in doing so. Not just Paul, get it, donations.

I would imagine that getting a test device for Paul or any other developer would be one of the easier things to achieve in this project. I was also thinking that we might have to wait for the rumored HTC Incredible to extract a CDMA Sense build, instead of the leaked or the final ROM of Desire. As I mentioned originally though, I would not know the first thing about this, and that's why I came here to ask you experts. I have never cooked a ROM, so I am not sure what the dependencies or limitations and requirements are present for installing OS/UI on a phone of a different band. Any other opinions/speculations, guys? Thanks for reading and taking part.

Paul managed to root and convert the MCR from the GSM to the CDMA Hero quite quickly, I would expect it( the N1) to be running roms very quickly. The appeal of the Nexus is that it seems to be very open to rooting etc, as if google want it to be modified.

Now if only Mr. Paul himself can chime in, we would get our hopes up a bit (and of course if he would even spend time to work on the CDMA N1?). Any word on the official release of Desire so that we have the final ROMs? Of course the unstable bluetooth could be an issue...

T-mobile UK tweeted (officially) It was releasing the phone on the 28th ( Can't remember to be honest, I posted in the news section a few weeks ago.....) So it won't be long before a release rom dump appears. I know someone who has Two desires to play with for evaluation purposes currently, so we are very close to something for sure.
