Confused about custom ROM

Hi,

I have had a read of various threads including this one - http://android.modaco.com/content/absolute...e-newbie-guide/ and am totally confused.

I am getting a Hero from the UK today and want to put a 2.1 ROM on it. Can I follow the Asian Hero instructions (above link) as well?

I don't believe there is any difference what hero you have (country) apart from if you have a CDMA version.

I found it rather confusing when I rooted my hero, I found www.theunlockr.com to be very good, they have videos to follow that makes it much easier if you are not 100% sure what you are doing.
