Guest canooten Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 Have a Verizon i910 and an odd (to me anyway) ICS issue. Had ICS set up and working with my Vista laptop months ago. Since then I swapped to a spare Omnia to play with some custom 6.5 ROMs and recently decided to switch back to my original 6.1/SPB unit. Since originally setting up ICS, I have put Win7 on my laptop and ICS will not work at all now. It seems to be more of a Win7 issue because after failing time after time to obtain an IP address on the Win7 laptop, I can disconnect ICS (on the phone) plug the same cable into my XP desktop and reconnect ICS and it works perfectly. It does not do the exact same thing every time, but usually either get a "waiting on network" message in ICS or a winmo popup saying it could not connect to the broadband network for an unknown reason. Either way, the laptop recognizes the connection initially and attempts to get an IP, but fails after a minute. Any ideas as to why it works on XP but not 7? Anything I can do? Have just moved in to a new house and don't have my internet service yet....would love to get online at home.

I have never been able to tether my Omnia i910 to my Vista laptop using ICS alone, always had to use it in conjuction with WMWifiRouter. Would love to be able to tether with USB and not have the phone die in 30 mins because of the power drain of the wifi.
Guest canooten Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I can't even get this to work using WMWifiRouter. Laptop can never get an IP address, or the ICS connection drops off. It doesn't seem to be a phone issue....it works perfectly with an XP machine, just won't work with Win 7 Anything in Win7 need to be adjusted for this to work?
Guest chopperthedog Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I just got a acer aspire one with 7 starter. I just figured I'd try plugging the phone in without doing any of the usb drivers or device center and low and behold the action screen popped up "auto play" and holy crap something worked without looking for a disk or googleing the night away. closed auto play window and opened ICS on phone and hit connect. and again holy crap I was getting 1.5 mbps dl speed. And I am still running that original idoctor gps unlock 6.1 rom (never felt the need to change everything works great). And usb connection is set to storage card. But I could NEVER get wmwifi router to work myself every version just seemed to make my WiFi disappear. So after many resco restores I gave up on wmwifi router. Since ICS worked the cable doesn't bother me I was a former $30 a month sucker got "Clear" at home and canceled the vzaccess. So the ICS is a plus. But I guess that's windows for you.
