yep im looking for a full backup of my hero, and i already know some programs to do it, but i want the more reliable ones only.

for programs i will use titanium. it's the best i've seen so far and it works like a charm. i'm using app2sd and i want the apps to show up on the market tab, so "my backup" won't do the job here.

but.. what about call logs? sms? contacts? bookmarks? system settings? I know "my backup" will do some of these but.. will it be reliable enough? any FC?

I've also heard of "Sprite Backup" but never used it.

any clues or good tips are welcome!

Even MyBackup and Sprite Backup are also a good option.

Yeah i'm pretty sure Titanium can do everything. Look through the list of installed entities inside Titanium and you should find what you want.

Titanium does what you require. Once you are in Titanium, press Menu, then Filters. Select System from the list and press the back key.

Look for entries written in green - these are the system setting that you may wish to back up - you'll find you contacts, sms/mms, wallpaper and various other settings in there that you can back up (I find the WiFi access point backup particualrly useful...)

Cheers

correct me if i am wrong but the major problem with Titanium Backup is that you cant back up *any* of the system settings, texts, calls etc when moving to a 2.1 Rom - and this is essentially what most people are needing right now. When you try to back anything other than programs, once backed up the system goes into major crashes

For that you can always use apps like Sprite Backup or MyBackup, These works with 2.1

not sure if this is still the case, but back when the first 2.0 roms came out there was an issue where you couldn't actually transfer any sm/mms from 1.5 to 2.0, some issue with the way the data is stored i think.

This may well be fixed, but in the meantime i just switched to using SMSBackup to send my messages to my gmail account and have a link to that label on my desktop making it nice and easy to find them if i want.

anyway... good luck!

really? thats what most matters to me, sms and contacts. I can live without a backup of my home desktop, since I can populate it again, even install myself the 60 programs I have or so, but I dont want to lose my sms/call logs...
