Guest channi3 Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Hey guys, just need to confirm whether if cases that have magnetic locks will affect the HTC Hero in anyway? Just abit worried and don't want to buy if there is a slight problem. eBay Link: Leather Flip Case Thanks
Guest shenshang Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 those magnets would only affect harddrives, luckily the hero doesnt use HDD and uses flash storage :) so don't worry ;)

However, if they are near the antenna, they can lower your signal, and you might miss more calls.
Guest lemmingzappa Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I have been wondering this too...
Guest volatile_ink Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 If your worried about the magnetic clasp being at the top of the Hero, check out the ADVERTISING SPAM Flip case.
Guest venturerider Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I use a BlackBerry case with magnetic clip. No problems whatsoever.

I know it doesn't always happen, but I've seen a customer return a magnetic case because the magnet was right next to the antenna and he missed more calls. The vendor told him it was a common issue with that particular case. So if anything, play it safe, I would recommend a case with a magnet at the top of the phone. Those shouldn't cause too many interferences.

I have a leather case with magnetic clip in the middle, and I have absolutely no issues whatsoever with this. And with a screen protector too you get real protection against droppage! Carl.

And with a screen protector too you get real protection against droppage! Carl. I had a leather flip case, with a magnatic clasp on the back. You couldn't play the tweeter game with the phone in the case, and the compass wouldn't work - google sky maps became static. You could no longer flip the phone to rotate the screen. I stopped using the case as I was concerned that there could be long term damage.
Guest sveintore Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 One guy at work complained that his HD2 lost all power and became very hot every time he used a case with magnetic lock..
