Cases with Magnetic Locks

Hey guys,

just need to confirm whether if cases that have magnetic locks will affect the HTC Hero in anyway? Just abit worried and don't want to buy if there is a slight problem.

those magnets would only affect harddrives, luckily the hero doesnt use HDD and uses flash storage :) so don't worry ;)

well, as long as they are at the top of the Hero, it's OK. However, if they are near the antenna, they can lower your signal, and you might miss more calls.

I use a BlackBerry case with magnetic clip. No problems whatsoever.

I know it doesn't always happen, but I've seen a customer return a magnetic case because the magnet was right next to the antenna and he missed more calls. The vendor told him it was a common issue with that particular case. So if anything, play it safe, I would recommend a case with a magnet at the top of the phone.Those shouldn't cause too many interferences.

I have a leather case with magnetic clip in the middle, and I have absolutely no issues whatsoever with this. And with a screen protector too you get real protection against droppage!

I had a leather flip case, with a magnatic clasp on the back. You couldn't play the tweeter game with the phone in the case, and the compass wouldn't work - google sky maps became static. You could no longer flip the phone to rotate the screen. I stopped using the case as I was concerned that there could be long term damage.
