Guest unchainedrssr Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) It's me again, and I have exhausted my search in the app market to find an app to put the Nexus One into Standby (or Sleep) instead of waiting for the screen to time out or use the physical power button to do so. After some research, I found that the physical power button has some issues with durability. I, for one, would like to extend the life of my power button by using a widget on my home screen to put my phone back into standby. (Power off, Reboot and, Reboot into Recovery as well) :) If there was an app that already did this, I would simply add it to a custom baked ROM. However, I am forced to seek help from the devs here to help us Nexus One owners. ;) Don't be lazy! :P If you want to see this, too, add a comment in support. Edited March 24, 2010 by unchainedrssr
Guest Motyla Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) That would be nice. Mine is actually not working very well, sometimes I have to hit it twice, and if I press it to long or not long enough, it quickly switches on to off. Kinda annoying. At least I don't have dust probs :) Edited March 24, 2010 by Motyla

It also does not "stand by" only power off...reboot...recovery. It is called Reboot Control. I would like to have a widget that only put the N1 to sleep/standby.
Guest 7wonders Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 I will also request this, when my power button is broken :)

I am hoping that there is a dev here that can accomplish this sooner. I would be happy to have just the Standby/Sleep widget and use Quickboot seperately, if need be.

I haven't heard about any problems with the trackball so that would work! Let us know if your trackball acts up! LOL (Just Kidding) ;) That would be great to use to Wake the phone and the widget would also be great to cut down on any physical key or trackball wear and tear. Thank you for your input on this thread. I do hope that we will see these options in the Kitchen. Edited March 24, 2010 by unchainedrssr
Guest cybrian Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Into Cyanogen ROM i can wakeup the "sleep/standby", just press trackball :P Hey @Paul, get this function in next release plz! :) Best regards ;) Coming from a iPod touch user (a former iPod touch user, I hate to say; my Nexus One makes my iPod feel neglected) I actually find myself reaching for the trackball to unlock it much more often than I am reaching for the power button. I really like having that feature and was really disappointed when I first booted my Nexus One stock and noticed that it didn't have it.
Guest Lamelos Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Does anyone have any new information concerning this request? My N1 Power button is officially broken and I hate having to wait for the 15 sec screen timeout before I can pocket my phone. :-(
Guest Sofakingwhat Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Unfortunately for me my power button has become so bad it is unusable :) I contacted HTC, my phone is being sent in and they will repair it but it probably won't be under warranty since i have unlocked the bootloader. The repair bill may sting a little! Hopefully Trackball Wake will be added to the Froyo ROM (please, please) that way i don't have to use the flimsy power button too often.
