Guest Michelle My Belle Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Easy Guide: Regress to your old ROM - Voda etc. This guide is a simple 'how-to' guide enabling you to regress to your old ROM. It does not require any registry hacks. It does not require you to enter any phone codes. It does require that you are familiar with flashing but since you want to revert back to your old ROM, it's likely that you've already flashed a ROM to your phone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ***NOTE*** I am not responsible if something goes wrong and you 'brick' your phone. You take full responsibility for your own actions. If you have obtained your phone with a cooked/different ROM, do not attempt this until you are completely comfortable with flashing cooked ROM's. Remember, You take full responsibility for your own actions, not me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prerequisites: i) XP PC - I don't know if this will work on Vista, VMWare or Win 7 - your choice/your risk. ii) Samsung Modem/USB XP driver iii) ActiveSync 4.5 iv) Pako777's i900_EXEcutor (I used v1.85 - not sure how other versions fare). It's probably some where on modaco or google it, you'll find it ;-) v) Go to Samsung's site and download your official original ROM/Updater - make sure you get the 'Vista' download version (don't worry you'll be doing this on an 'XP' machine). Note: I wasn't able to get this to work (i.e. disassemble) with the official XP downloader/version from Samsung, only the Vista version disassembled for me but maybe different for you: - http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp When you've selected your country and 'Vista' (see note above), you'll be asked for your Omnia version... ... I entered older version 'ACHH1' for UK Vodafone which gave me the latest 'ACHJ2'. Not sure what yours is/was?? click this: - http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...re-version-fix/ or check Samsung-Omnia.org site: - http://www.samsung-omnia.org/index.php?topic=4954.0 Okay, onto the fun. 1. start up i900_EXEcutor v1.85 (probably a good idea to click English language button). 2. Select 'Disassemble' and click the 'EXE_firmware' button on the left and go and locate where you saved your original Samsung download/updater. ***Note using an official XP update gives me a firmware error on v1.85*** You'll see the parts of the ROM listed: PC_LOADER EBOOT EBOOT (no, not a mistake) PDA CSC PHONE. 3. Press 'Go'. A message will tell you when the procees is completed and let you know where the individual parts are saved. 4. In the directory you'll find: customer.csc eboot.nb0 eboot_2.nb0 pda.bin phone.bin report.txt Unknownloader.exe (the Vista loader). 5. Click 'Assemble' button on i900_EXEcutor. Now press each left-hand button for: ver_pda/xip/ver_csc/ver_phn select and accept the default entries listed e.g. my Omnia shows: eboot.nb0..............................i900SHHJ2_0136 pda.bin..................................xip customer.csc..........................ACHJ2 phone.bin...............................i900BUHJ1 Note: I did not select the 'mlng' button - I didn't have anything disassembled to put in there. 6. press the 'Go' button and that's it - finished preparing your 'official' ROM for flashing to your phone. You'll find your ROM, ready to flash, in the same directory as the disassembled ROM parts (if you accepted all the defaults), mine was called: i900-HJ2_0136-HJ2-HJ1.exe Make sure that you have a connection via ActiveSync and start the ROM updater just like you would with a 'cooked' ROM. Press the reset button on your Omnia and when you see the 'START' button is available on 'SGH-I900 V1.6.6 UserDownloader XP', press 'START'. ***IMPORTANT*** Make sure you wait for both parts to flash - PDA and Phone - Note: after the PDA has flashed the Phone part takes a bit longer and there will NOT be any indication on your phone that anything is happening. Make sure you WAIT!!! Wait until the 'SGH-I900 V1.6.6 UserDownloader XP' has completely finished and when your phone starts up, it's complete ;-) When the phone has finished booting up (Samsung startup screen will be seen first), make sure you soft reset then you'll get to see all the Vodafone start up screens and the rest of the Voda crap will now reside on your phone :-/ you know what I mean ;-) My Samsung Omnia now shows: PDA: i900XXHJ6/ACHJ2 PHONE: i900BUHJ1 ... and I couldn't stand it (Voda branded 6.1 Omnia) for longer than a couple of hours, so decided to flash back to one of Ock's beautiful ROM's :) Anyway it was a useful exercise and should prove useful if you want to revert/regress to your original ROM for warranty or peverse reasons ;) Good Luck.
