Increased Lag With Low Battery

Hello.

I have noticed with all these ROM's and even the official 1.5 that the lag/slowness/unresponsiveness present in the UI increases when the battery falls below 45% or thereabouts.

If I have full juice it runs fine mostly except for a few FC's.

Anyone else notice this?

Hmm never noticed it myself (I use a task manager...) May be the phone 'underclocks' itself when battery is below a certain %

I use SetCPU and a few other apps to create profiles. E.g. Charging - full power ... <30% = underclocked ...

But officially I am not aware of the Hero underclocking itself,,, may be someone can shed some light on this issue

interesting. I didn't think about underclocking automatically. It's a good idea to preserve battery when low but it makes my phone unusable with low battery. :/

I try to steer clear of task managers ... I don't think any phone should need a task manager IMHO ... it should be sophisticated enough to kill tasks itself when needed to preserve the UI experience at a constant.

Yeah I agree with the tankmanager bit. But as I have posted here http://androidforums.com/htc-hero/56015-qu...html#post474080 in response to this http://androidforums.com/htc-hero/56015-qu...html#post473996 a task manager does help.

I really wish the android task manager was more efficient But it could be down to our slow cpus /' lack of RAM.

May be the next generation of Android phones (Desire etc) with more RAM and CPU will mean we will not need to use task managers.

We shallsee. :)

Explanation: HTC made the CPU at 384 MHz and automatically overclock to 528 MHz if needed (both screen ON or OFF). this actually affects the Usability of the Phone

this method will make the CPU at best when screen is ON, and saves a looooot of battery when screen is OFF.

So it is under clocked to save battery but overclocks itself when needed
