Awaiting apps2sd issue to fix (requiring to repair cache so often) before updating the ROM Again. Keep clearing data from "Manage apps" from different apps e.g. browsing web and market saves some data which you can clear I guess.

But the RAM memory is getting low with all the widgets and stuff. And in my opinion the more RAM you have the less laggy the phone will be when running 2+ apps at the same time.
Guest le_lutin Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Just asking :). BTW how much do you have free. I stopped checking when I realised that Android could manage the memory much better than i could (by killing tasks etc.).
Guest meinnit Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I stopped checking when I realised that Android could manage the memory much better than i could (by killing tasks etc.). Thing with Android memory manager is that you have no control over when an app is ended if you put it into the background. I have AutoKiller which allows you to edit the Android memory manager settings so gives you back a bit of control.
Guest ogiogi Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I use Advanced Task Manager. It comes with a widget :). Just press to END. :}}}
Guest meinnit Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I have 26MB free with Shapewriter and SetCPU running in the background. 36MB free without these running. Only widgets I have are switches which probably only run when I trigger something eg. wifi. Not really a fan of widgets....prefer a longer battery life :)

But still i get 2 days battery life. With average web browsing + MSN and Skype, couple of phone calls, 40 min video etc.

Guest ogiogi Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 two days, how? mine last max one day with all those widgets.. I have data switched off, and Task Manager killing unneeded apps. I'm very happy with the battery life. I actually used the phone just for calls no internet no games no gps and it lasted 5 days :).
Guest chris9181 Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Just asking :). BTW how much do you have free. How do I check?
Guest ogiogi Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 How do I check? Any task manager should show you the amount of free memory. U can use "quick system info" its free on the market if you don't need a task manager.

Guest Azurren Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I get between 28mb and 32mb with my usal setup (all 6 pulse screens covered in useful eyecandy) running stock december rom.. I was wondering, is the custom pulse style rom (1.7) faster than the stock.. looking at the changelog doesn't give much info.
Guest flip360 Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 mine is around 30 -34 free, checked with Advanced Task Manager :)
Guest onlyyouzl Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Open applications, such as novels, and video memory, the remaining 24-35, non-application memory, the remaining 47-62 hours standby, which are optimized through the simplification, only when you use the Task Manager plug-in data
Guest _melchett Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 How are people getting 35mb! On 1.7 Pulse i was gettin 18mb (20max if i killed some things) and on 1.7 Vanilla i get around 20mb (26 if i kill some things)!!!
Guest twe Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Lowest mine goes is 22mb with 1 app running, and highest is 32mb with nothing running in background. With v1.8 vanilla installed and a few switches. Everything else is normal stuff.
Guest onlyyouzl Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 This is my only shot to run the computer synchronization software, and the Task Manager plug-in when the remaining ram, the other is running at the same time reading, music, input methods, synchronization, and the Task Manager when the remainder of ram, and when running large programs such as movies and gps Navigation will be left after the system ram up to 62M

On 1.7 Pulse i was gettin 18mb (20max if i killed some things) and on 1.7 Vanilla i get around 20mb (26 if i kill some things)!!! After a clean boot and killing all un-needed tasks I get 36mb :) I donno, thats why I asked if the custom rom really is faster. I mean my stock december rom has more idol ram even with all my widgets..
Guest Azurren Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) I'll post here again now I have installed a custom rom. Ram is lower now, around 22mb - 26mb, raising past 30mb briefly at times. However: My computer has 4gb of ram and idles using 1.5gb of that lag free (2.5gb free). But it can also run anywhere as low as 626mb (3.3gb free) with hell of a lot of lag (If I force it). So with that in mind a good os will use as much ram as available to increase the speed of the OS (Which the custom roms seem to do) The speed increase is very noticeable from updating to the custom rom Edited March 27, 2010 by Azurren
Guest Minus616 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I have between 20-30mb free, but it depends a lot on if I am using Pandahome or not, it seems to take around 8-10mb to run. You guys shouild try Autokiller if you already haven't, it helps free up ram and speeded up my pulse quite a bit :P It's nothing like Task panel, Advanced task killer, Task manager etc etc
