Guest sfam Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 (edited) I have 2 omina's since April 2009 and have changed RADIO and PDA frequently on one of them, but also in the other one from time to time. Lately I noticed that my battery lifetime was getting smaller and smaller... today, it lasts around 12h. :) First I thougth the problem was some app I installed and changed PDA a few times... same. Then I thougth the problem should be RADIO. Changed it too with no luck. Here are some RADIO/PDA combinations I tested: XBIC1 + Bruno Adler NEO PT (running SPB Mobile Shell) XBIC1 + P_Dhee Ultralite (running SPB Mobile Shell) XBIC1 + OCK M2Dv2 PUJA1 + OCK M2Dv2 (currently being used) Both omnia phones I have suffer from the same problem now... but with all the RADIO/PDA I tested, I think the problem is not the ROM used. Before you ask... I don't use any special software... in this ROM, the only cab I installed is Opera Mobile... Also have NDrive, but only installed after I make sure the problem also exists without it... My phone usage, is in my oppinion, a very normal usage: gmail sync every hour; weather sync once a day; google news reading every morning; 3 or 4 calls a day and not much more... So, my questions are: - Is there any other possible justification besides a addicted battery? - Does anyone heard someone with this kind of battery problems? - any other idea before I buy a new battery? Thanks in advance! Edited April 30, 2010 by sfam
Guest maboo23 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Try doing some tweaks? Try other roms also I am using Sector's old rom + updgraded to XBIC1 Its great! Plus i do some heat problems temp fix.
Guest sfam Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 (edited) hello again, I'm bringing back this post, because there were some developments in the understanding of this problem. Hopefully it can help others with similar battery problems. After testing a few other phone parts, and pda rom's the problem persisted: battery would't last a day! When all pointed towards a battery problem, I bought a new battery (10€ was a reasonable price to test the theory). After receiving it and fully charge it, started using it, and at the end of the day, the worst happed: again 10% battery, phone off... went over all possibilities again... googled a lot, and somewhere out there, found a tweak related to gprs connection timeout. let's try! In HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\ - Set CacheTime to 60 (Timeout in seconds) - Set SuspendResume to GPRS_bye_if_device_off (Timeout after CacheTime) Turns out, my gprs connection was always on! no problem since I have a monthly data package, but made all the difference in my battery lifetime. Now the data connection terminates if no activity after 1 minute. Also compared using 3G+ and simple GPRS. The results were: 3G+ ON: ~48 hours with intense use. 3G OFF (only simple GPRS): almost 3 days, with moderate use. using XBIC1 with OCK M2Dv2 (great rom btw) If you have an always-on data connection, this is a must-have setting... all ROM's should bring this by default, imo! Hope this helps somebody else too... put your feedback here if you try this. Cheers! Edited April 30, 2010 by sfam
Guest raidenbr Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 nice! good topic. will help others in the future
Guest illusion786 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) Another issue should be considered as well. Im running Kuncahias 6.1 IF1 and im also experiencing battery drain. I couldnt find any software or reg issues but i came across my CPU. its running constantly at 422mhz. i dont know how to reduce the speed or set it to auto. I think this could be an issue that other people are having as well. Edited May 1, 2010 by illusion786

This is the very best 6.1 in everything, including (of course!) the phone part!!! Believe me, I was using this rom for months. There's nothing wrong with it. You must check what apps you installed and of course, what phone you're using. (I like to believe, you DON'T using the official phone your device had when you bought it, right?) Dude relax man yeah i know what his name is and no need to exaggerate about this rom either. It could be an issue with my battery, but then why would my cpu show that its running at constant 422mhz? i changed the rom to s0cks SK002 and cpu showed 200mhz. Im not running anything other than his default rom apps. My radio is ID1 (I like to believe, you DON'T using the official phone your device had when you bought it, right?) I have the official phone mate. Not some chinese copy. Edited May 1, 2010 by illusion786

Not some chinese copy. 1.But I didn't yell to you, I just wrote it in CAPS to read it right, that's all. Also, I'm not trying to be "teacher" about roms to nobody, because I don't care for it... You're getting angry VERY easily or is just my thought? 2.This rom is the perfect 6.1. My cpu was running rapidly fast and no battery's problems... You may pay a visit to your local service. 3.When I meant "phone", I wasn't refering to the device, but to your "radio"... Your radio (phone) is "ancient", more than... Julius Caesar! Try the XBIC1 Try these, trust me.
Guest illusion786 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 I think it may just be you bro. Im a happy and friendly person Lol @ ceaser times. Well, no. It's not me... I'm just pissed these days, sorry for wrong conclusions. Don't know what's wrong with ya, mate; with your device... I mean, you "can't" have problems with this 6.1 build 21001 (port from i8000) with your i900. Really, I'm getting in the point to... forget how many roms I ported all these past 18+ months! I think I tryed... all the roms uploaded yet! Hahaha... THIS rom, this "Omnia II for i900" of Khuanchai, it absolutely the BEST, bro. Really, it's the best. Of course, we can't forget WM6.1s of Ryrzy, K.Radd, Shokka9, Taril and more! Fantastic roms, indeed. But THIS rom you using (and having problems), it IS the best, really! All the time, when I'm tirred from problematic 6.5s, I'm allways turning back to this rom... (Again, it's not "me"; but I have to apologise.) Edited May 1, 2010 by andrew.mazlim
Guest jms2367 Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 M8s (hi Cypriot fellow!)... I've tested 60+ roms so far!!! Since last July, I've "flashed" soooooo many roms, so I was praying my OMNIA to... stay alive!!! I'm friend with SECTOR and I'm good friend with SHOKKA9 aswell... I've test many-many "cookers'" roms, especially these two fellows' roms... I've "flashed" 6.1 as much as 6.5 roms. My final conclusion is this: As far as I tested 6.5s, I didn't find a SINGLE 6.5 rom without problems! One "cooker's" rom has problems/lags in something, another "cooker's" rom has in something else. I didn't find a GOOD, STABLE 6.5 rom - except maybe "Zeus" Lite of SECTOR or v.17 & v.18 of SHOKKA9. But even these, had problems... (Of course, since last October when I've "flashed" THIS BRILLIANT 6.1 from OMNIA II rom, I didn't test any new build's 6.5, so perhaps there are some good/stable 6.5s) From the 6.1 roms, I've tested many, but I don't think there is ANY OTHER BETTER than THIS AMAZING "Omnia II for i900" rom! So... I'm TRULLY asking our "cheff" here, our asian "cooker", if he can work in a new build of THIS rom here... Cheers to all. Firstly, is KHUANCHAI the name.
