Smashed screen

So, my boyfriend dropped his Pulse and now the screen is majorly cracked. The phone still works, weirdly, and I mean it's really perfectly usable, but the screen has cracks all over it so it's a little unsightly.

Does anyone have any idea what he could do? I thought perhaps just buying a new pulse, since it's pretty cheap anyway... but if anyone knows of a cheaper option that'd be awesome. :P

Well I guess that answers the question as to whether the screen is made of glass or not!

Normally with HTC devices it's easy to find a service manual in which it's explained how to disassemble it.

For the Huawei devices I haven't seen any yet, but maybe you can create one ? (once you have bought a second hand device and replace the screen ?)

It may be more cost-effective to buy another pulse and sell the old for spares / repairs.

As far as I am aware there aren't many spare pulse screens around and I have no idea how easy it is to replace (Remember how the touchscreen works, touchscreens are very delicate and you could easily install it wrong)

With that said even taking it to a repair shop could have a major price tag if they can't easily get hold of the needed replacements.

Perhaps you could get a quote

There's nothing wrong at all, I have friends and that doesn't bother me.

Just now I thought there was no need for him to be that openned, unnessessary info, and that's what bothered me somehow.

Sorry anyway.

Heh, I'm just going to assume, if he said girlfriend, you would have said nothing :P

Yep, but I said that in his behalf, if that means anything.

And just cause' I really didn't see the point in sharing that.

Sorry again :P

It's fair enough, you've not offended me, I'm just making a point :(

Good luck finding a replacement screen mate. I broke mine a while back, can't find them anywhere. Ended up buying a new Pulse, which may be going back now anyway as I don't get any network ANYWHERE I go >.<

That concerns me, seems Pulse screen isn't that reliable. I'll search for a rubber cover like Ifonnie one's.

I'd say the Pulse's screen is no more or less reliable than any other smartphone with a glass screen (eg iPhone).

Heh. You're right. I meant I never thought about it. :P

So is the screen is glass?

I guess the only thing to do would to buy a second hand one from ebay and sell the other for spares.. or keep it just incase anything goes wrong?

Thanks for the replies, er... most of you :P

I think we'll see what we can do about getting a new Pulse or something! Though that might be a bit expensive. :(

Again, thank you for the advice!

when I cracked my old HTC Elfin I got a replacement screen (+tools) for 22€ via ebay from Hong Kong. Replacing the screen was easy (if you don't have ten thumbs and good light). Don't know about the Pulse - but if there are screws....
