Guest phildrip Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Hi all, Does anyone know if it's possible to use the Pulse as a broadband dongle in linux? I saw on the wiki that it's possible using Windows with the 'Dialup' app which comes on the CD (http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_U8...e_as_a_modem.29), but it only mentions that linux can use the phone for dialup. Anybody have a silver bullet? Cheers, Phil

That'd probably be enough for me, at least. I'd still be interested to hear if it's possible to use the phone as a dongle in linux, tho, given that it can apparently be done in Windows.
Guest JingleManSweep Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Check the wiki again... You can do this with Linux "out of the box"... http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_U8...e_as_a_modem.29 Linux: Open a terminal and enter: sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x12d1 product=0x1501

Guest Azurren Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Am I wrong in thinking that just allows dialup, then? No I believe that it shares the phones connection. (This did confuse me as well)

Guest starkos Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Is it possible to do this on a MAC ? (Please dont mention proxoid, or pdanet..;)) Yea I was hoping for the same thing. Searched liked crazy but couldn't find anything, seems like there's no modprobe alternative for osx ;) If anyone does know an alternative method it would be seriously appreciated ;)
