Microphone mutes

I discovered weird and annoying problem - microphone mutes on some of outgoing calls, I dial the number and hear the partner to keep shouting hello hello hello? but he doesnt hear me at all. At the same time I try to shout to him DIRECTLY into mic's hole on the phone and no result. I have to end call and dial again, then he hears me. It doesnt happen every time, but it does at least once or twice a day with different numbers. So, looks like the problem is on my side.

That happens to me too very often.

Maybe we should try to run bugreport or dmesg after this happens to see whats going on.

Ok I will try to remember it next time it happens. The problem is that whenever it happens you are really busy with something and there is NO time for research... will see. I searched the net and found that a few ppl on nexus have similar problem, they solve it during conversation by muting and unmuting the mic. Well, I didnt try to do it but it would probably work, the problem is that the partner needs to wait and usually people are not that patient.

Same problem here... its always the first call you make straight after that call it will be fine.... but then after a period of time say for example 30 minutes you don't use the phone the problem will occur again!

I am using:

MoDaCo Custom Rom 1.6

FW Version - 1.5

Baseband - 6383

Kernal - 2.6.27-perf

Build - U8220V100R001GBRC85B118SP01

I was just going to ask about that!

I own my U8220-6 for a week now and people keep complaining about my outcome voice! That seriously sucks!

While typing that something came to mind:

Maybe isn't a mute problem, I just tought now about the mic position! Look where it is! When we talk holding the phone with the right hand we problably close it with our palm!

That still sucks!

I'm not using a custom ROM, I have T-Mobile UK's december ROM.

I think that it's a software or software-hardware connection problem because in the cases when this problem occur at the start of my call I notice that the volume of the ringer in the handset is lower than usual.

My brother's Pulse has a similar problem. He has to use the speakerphone whenever he's on a call.

Same problem with my phone. I am using MCR 1.6. This problem was reported with original rom and MCR roms. Hope the official android 2.1 release will be a cure.

i think all of you should try to upgrade to mcr 1.7. it's the latest version available for free, and i think that it claimed to fix some issues with sound quality and maybe in-call sound, too. definitely worth a try.

I have mcr 1.7 with this problem. So, update is not a solution, at least with the same android version

see the post above, I started this tread to find a solution to my problem and if you test and recommend me to install the save firmware as I already have, this "solution" will be useless.

I'm frustrated over the top of my head!!! it happened today with four calls in a row, actually with all four calls. I have saved all kinds of log files and dmesg log. It is quite long, so, if anyone can help, and interested to get those reports I can pm them or something. It's too complecated for me to figure lines in there. All calls I was making were automatically muted and I had to press mute button and depress it again to get call mic working (unmute) Found an issue here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=5720 looks like this problem is really an issue among android users. I find the android device unusable as a phone, so, I call it device. Will see what can be done and maybe get rid of it if dont find a solution.

I have a Telstra desire with stock rom and I too am having a mic mute problem. My problems happens in about half my incoming calls. I answer and can hear the other party but they can't hear me. they usually hang up and then if they ring me back it always works. Appears it is a problem of the phone coming out of sleep mode. Really need a fix as the phone is very unreliable like this.

Thanks.
