Guest afterimage Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 I've just 'adopted' a Nexus One from work, but as soon as I turn it on all I get is the four--coloured cross. After much googlage I've tried the suggested tricks such as a hard reset, and even gone as far as getting the latest rom and loading it onto an SD card as 'update.zip' - but when I click on recovery in the bootloader, all I get is that cross again. Is it knacked?
Guest tol4711 Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Check that the battery is fully charged (green light) and has good contact. I have a Nexus One which on boot displayed the cross for a few secs and then shut down, even with power cord connected. fastboot worked, and I could flash using it as well. But when I booted recovery from fastboot, I would get the few seconds of the cross followed by the device shutting off. I left it connected for 24h, but the front light was still orange. Taking the battery out and putting it back in solved it for me. Conventional wisdom is that as long as you don't change the bootloader or radio you should be ok. A working fastboot mode is all that you need if the hardware itself is ok.
