Hi,

I've been struggling to get a new Sandisk 16gb (class 4) microsdhc to work correctly..

If i format the whole card (without any ext partitions) it works but due to a lot of apps the phone memory gets used up and the phone os runs slow, so i need to use A2SD with ext2.

If i format the card using amon ra's recovery image (RA-Hero-v1.6.2) (0 swp, 1024 ext2, rest fat32), the card stops working and can't format it in windows, phone says it's damaged and sometime the phone keeps rebooting fixed in a loop at the bbot screens!

I have also found that the phone own format utility in settings never works with any card, nothing shows up that it's formatting and always gives the option to reformat but does nothing, whats wrong?

Can someone help as what settings to use to format a 16gb card and how to do it, will a manual partition do the job correctly, create fat32 partiton first then 0swp then 1024 ext2?

Thanks for any help.

Neither FAT32 nor the Hero should have any problems handling a 16 GB card. Perhaps the card is somehow faulty. You should perform some tests on the card from Windwos or what ever OS you are using. You can also try booting from a linux live CD and use the partition tools there to create the partitions.

Thanks for the reply!

I have scanned the card in windows, no problems found if it is used as a full card, if it's partitioned using RA then the problems start.

I've just found YouADB Gui with a partition utlitiy to see if this will work but now stuck with the partition size settings to input into youADB and there dosen't seem to be any help files for it.

What i want is 0 swp, 1024 ext2 rest fat32 but youadb needs the partiton sizes which i don't know for the "rest fat32" part, there's also the option to delete ext2 which is confusing?

Thanks Dr!

I have now tried every possible solution around the forums, even paragon partition software and this card will only work with 1 partition, if i try to put another partition on it i/o errors occur and also formatted partitions randomly disappear along with the phone going into a boot loop (probably because the ext2 is not recognised correctly).

Gonna send it back and try another, wierd as the card works fine when fully formatted to fat32 with 1 partition. :P

Thanks all the help anyway!

I have a 16GB card installed on my G2 with 512MB for the ext2 - I might be wrong but I thought the ext2 partition had a max size of 512MB

It isn't like that you can increase to any size but 512 MB is generally considered an average size for ext partition.
