Are you sure your device is set to connect with active sync? It shouldn't be Mass Storage(Settings-Connections-USB Connection Mode).

Its selected as Mass Storage, Put it back to ActiveSync.

Is your phone charging? Then it should be connected and found on your computer. If not, it might be a problem on your Device.

If that isn't the problem, is your device found in device manager?

Right Click on My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager. Open that, Then check for unknown devices(With a yellow exclamation).

Try removing Device Center(Your on Vista right?), and then reinstalling(WITH YOUR DEVICE CONNECTED TO YOUR PC, this is necessary because it installs the good drivers for your device). Also do you have the Samsung modem driver installed? I don't know if this affects your connection, but you could try.

Are you using Office 2010 64bits on Windows 7 64 bits, if so the problem is known and we're still waiting for a 64 bits patch for Outlook from m$.

I also face this problem too in Windows 7, to fix this issue for me is to download the WMDC update from Microsoft. The default WMDC shipped with Windows 7 have to be update because it didn't contains i900 driver. (Correct me if I was wrong)

Hopes this help,
