Guest linuxluver Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) I've been using various eclair ROMs on my Acer Liquid over the past few weeks. LCR v.1.2.3 is very stable and eViL D's most recent ROMs have been great. But..... It is difficult to use Google Earth on the Acer Liquid. The phone doesn't do multi-touch. It also does not have a trackball or D-pad....so once you have zoomed into a location in Google Earth, there is no way I can find to to zoom OUT again! Even killing the app and restarting it sees you returned to the same place as when you exited the app. The only way I could find to get 'out'....was uninstall it and then re-install it and start fresh. Not good as a solution....but it appears to be the only one so far. If anyone knows how to zoom out in Google Earth on Acer Liquid.....please let me know. Thanks. This is one application that really needs multi-touch on Acer Liquid (since the phone has no trackball or pad). Edited April 6, 2010 by linuxluver
Guest liquid_it Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 If anyone knows how to zoom out in Google Earth on Acer Liquid.....please let me know. AFAIK the only way to zoom-out is using pinch out gesture on a multitouch enbabled device..

Guest Lorents Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Yo, may I ask how you got google earth?
Guest malez Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Yo, may I ask how you got google earth? If you use LCR, you will find it on the market. If you use another distrib, you will need tu use malez recovery to change market access first and them you will see in on market.
Guest simoneser Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) I never found Google Earth with 0.008 rom. I've tried many rom and unlocked market several times, but nothing.. With 0.004 no problem, but this hasn't got MT... Edited April 6, 2010 by simoneser
Guest m106 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 One way around it is to install the Google Earth APK manually - .apk can be downloaded here: http://sites.google.com/site/droidlife10/h...oogle_earth.apk
Guest malez Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 I can't find it in market either with new bin and unloacked market. Thank you for the link

Guest vikings123 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Thanks for the link to google earth apk. I downloaded and installed. And it is running perfectly smooth, with WiFi connection of course . And I can use Multitouch to zoom IN/OUT within Google Earth. I love this. Thanks again! :P
Guest linuxluver Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Flash the new leaked bin :P It supports Multitouch. Thanks. I'll try it again. But for Google Earth on Acer Liquid you also want Apps2SD as Google Earth - by itself - uses (approx) 15% of all internal app storage. That's a lot for one app.
Guest Seth Cold Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 got any links to google maps also? same here with liberated 1.2 and LCR 1.3... no google earth nor maps on market
