Guest JimJam707 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Can someone just give me a quick heads up?
Guest gregDT Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Can someone just give me a quick heads up? Rooting is the process of gaining root privileges on an Android mobile phone. Once root has been obtained a user can install custom versions of the Android operating system, otherwise known as ROM's. Custom ROM's offer additional features not available in the stock ROM's supplied with the phone. Also 3rd party ROM's can offer newer versions of Android not offered by the manufacturer i.e there are custom Android 2.1 ROM's for the HTC Hero, although HTC only sell the phone with Android 1.5 installed. Custom ROM's may also come with bugs and problems, meaning they are mostly in beta and being continuously worked on and improved.

Does rooting also mean you can install stuff on the external SD micro card or am I getting my wires crossed? ;)

Guest evil_lcf Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 hi, can i add a couple of questions as well? i have a legend and i find annoying not able to personalize it as i did with my nokias. after rooting the device, can i change fonts, change name of the app in the menĂ¹, create folders in the main menĂ¹ to better organize it, save sms in the sd (since i understood it saves in the phone now) ? thank you

Guest roscoe141 Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Is there any real need to root and rom it? With Andriod 2.2 (Froyo) soon to be released this will allow us to install apps to the SD card.. http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-co...-to-know-689101
