Guest batch_2001 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, my search powers are weak. I am in the UK and I have unlocked my Pulse and am now using it on the 3 network. I wanted to grab a pay app off market that allows me to set recordings on my Sky+ PVR It is called "record it" and is as below http://www.androlib.com/android.applicatio...ordit-jzxF.aspx But I can't see it in market. I assumed it wasn't 1.5 compatible and hence blocked but the developer assures me Android 1.5 - 2.1 are supported. I can also see and use the free version of the app that does not have the 'remote record' facility without issue. So the question is simple - why can't I see it? Edited April 6, 2010 by batch_2001

Can you see any paid apps? It could be a three problem, or they could have even pulled the app from their market for some reason. If you still have a t mobile sim then return data off (save credit just in case, use wifi and see if you can find it. It maybe that the dev haas set it or not set it to allow custom android roms such as that of the pulse..
Guest McSpoon Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 It's a problem with the official T-Mobile Pulse ROM. Basically the developer has marked the app as 'copy-protected' (to reduce piracy) and therefore it will only get listed on officially registered Android Market devices. The trouble is, the Pulse was never officially registered. It probably should be, but it isn't. So none of the copy-protected apps appear for the standard Pulse. However the MoDaCo Custom ROMs have a fix for it (by masquerading as a HTC Hero) so if you use a MCR ROM for the Pulse then you'll see all of the apps on the Android Market, including the copy-protected ones.
Guest kohaku Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 (edited) I had the same issue before when I first got my pulse. It could be the region (based on your sim operator) such that paid applications are invisble, or it could be the OS ver (i.e. the app need 1.6+) For region issue, you can try market-enabler to fake your region. http://code.google.com/p/market-enabler/ Edited April 7, 2010 by kohaku
Guest batch_2001 Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Well there's a few things to try there. Thank you all! I'm guessing its the copy protected flag, but I'll try t-mobile SIM and take a look at the market-enabler too. I doubt its region since I'm in the UK and the app is only really intended for the UK market.

I have the same problem on my stock, unrooted, Pulse, running the December update (it came with it installed). THe difference in the behaviour I've seen though is that in the first couple of weeks of using the Pulse in early March it worked fine - all apps were showing, paid or otherwise. I specifically remember this from downloading "Exchange by Touchdown" and seeing the entry for "Exchange by TouchDown Key" for $19.99. I used the demo, liked it, and a few weeks later went to buy, only to find I can't see the $19.99 version, or indeed any other copy protected paid-for app. The key thing though is that this wasn't always the case - it used to appear fine, and I have the stock ROM. So something, at least for me, has got gummed up in the meantime. I've cleared the Market cache etc. but no luck. Don't really want to reflash...
