A noob need help (Desire user)

hi, I just received my Desire from Vodafone UK last day. However, i have many questions to ask here.

1) How can I find out is my phone has a generic version or vodafone branded?

2) Do I need a "GoldCard" to flash my phone if my phone is shipped unbranded or just the RUU will do the job?

3) In my phone setting, under "Keyboard language" and "Select locale", there is only "English" option available. How can I add more keyboard language into my phone? Do I have to flash my phone with a ROM that consists of languages that I requested?
