Guest Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 So here is the thing, on my phone the GPS is broken. Everything works fine, except my GPS. It just can't get a fix while it did that before. So I need toe send my phone back for reparation at HTC. On my phone I use MCR 3.2 ROM, so I was wondering if my warranty gone if I install other ROM like MCR 3.2? If so, then I will need to install the original ROM from HTC, this is not a big problem. I am more concern about the fact that when I get my phone back, which ROM will HTC include and will I be able to root my phone again? I already have created a Gold Card for this phone, so I was wondering is this enough? If someone could answer these questions for me I would be helped a lot! Thx in advance, Merkes

Thx in advance, Merkes They'll be installing the latest Generic update most probably(It can be 2.73.405.66) if the device is not branded, But if you have a Goldcard you'll be able to downgrade the ROM without a problem.
Guest Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Thx for the fast replay, but do you know if I need to install genuine ROM from HTC before i bring it to the Service Point? Right now I have MCR 3.2 ROM on my phone.

Guest kendon Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 before you do anything stupid, have you reflashed your radio? just asking, because it is known for a fact that often a radio reflash is needed after trying a 2.1 rom to make the gps work again. i had this problem myself several times.
Guest zorm Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Also, FAO OP, if you send you phone in to be serviced it could come back with the soon to be released update. This is currently an unknown quantity & it is possible HTC might have closed the goldcard loophole currently relied upon to root recent ROMs, so be wary. Hopefully they won't do this, as it isn't, aiui, actually a bug, but an intentional backdoor, of sorts. E&OE.

Well seen. I had no GPS too and re-flashing the Radio solved it.

So yesterday I first made a nandroid backup and after that i flashed my Hero with genuine HTC RUU and headed to Service Center. Because it was quite busy at Service Center I started playing with my phone. So I fired up Google Maps, and there it was, my phone was looking for GPS satellites. I left Service Center as fas as I could to root my phone again ;) With FlashRec 1.1.3 I was able to install RecoveryRom and restore my nandroid backup. Right now everything works just fine. Just wanna say thank you for all the tips from you guys, Merkes
