Is there a way to convince my i900 that it does not have a headset attached?

After possibly experiencing a foriegn object into the power / headset port on the phone it seems to think that there is a headset attached when there is not, resulting in no volume to the microphone or to the speaker under normal circumstances.

Is there a registry edit or other approach that can solve this in the short term?

Is there a place to buy a new port (or what ever it is properly called) and is it an easy part to replace or do I need to send the phone away for someone else to do?

I have tried a hard reset to solve the issue because the phone had become very slow and I thought this was part of the problem, but whilst my phone has sped up and things that had stopped working now do work, I still can't make or receive phone calls - well I can receive I just can't speak to anyone or hear anything!

Many thanks for any assistance.
