Custom boot image with a neutral splash screen

Hi all.

It a long time since you are waiting for the ability to use apps2sd outside of the Liquid Community Rom.

Since the splash screen has changed in LCR, many of you have asked for a neutral splash screen to use the boot image in your cook.

I have decided to help you in this way and to provide a boot image with a neutral splashscreen and these features included :

- Multitouch

- rooted (will reroot by itself if unrooted)

- adb remount compiliant

- apps2sd enabled for apps/data/dalvik (store you apps and data on you sdcard to have more space) Use malez recovery to enable/disable .

It is provided in an update.zip file inside wich you can pick the boot.img

If you plain to use it and appreciate it, let me know or buy me a cofee (it's always plaisant)

I need testers for 2.000.16 as i am unders Liquid E for LCR moment and don't plan to downgrade.

I will rebuild another version if you wanna test.

The Apps2SD will help those still running Donut devices a lot. We are still waiting for this function before official 2.1 released.

Once again, thank you for your sharing and help.

According to our partners' information, Acer is gonna to release official 2.1 Euro and AAP around at May, I hope this release could solve those bugs in beta.

I made a quickly test for the boot.img provided by you, here are the result:

Base ROM: 2.000.16 EMEA GEN1 ( new and clean)

Recovery: malezRecovery 0.4.3

1. installed v.1.1, normal booting failed. ( with Acer and Linux logo restart looping)

2. restart into recovery, activate by "adb shell apps2sd on" in console then shutdown and reboot, it was as same as step 1, failed again.

3. restart into recovery, choosing Move App2sd only, then reboot again, but still as same as above.

4. Reflash ROM 2.000.16 EMEA GEN1 and malezRecovery 0.4.3

5. installed v.1.2 and do the steps 1~3, still failed (restart looping)

Were there something wrong?

Thnk you for the test Tk. In fact if normal boot is ok, apps2sd will. No need to test apps2sd if normal booting fails. You have tried "adb shell apps2sd on" but it is no sense, this command is and will stay a specificity of LCR rom. Apps2sd must be activated via recovery.

I think I will really have to reflash my phone in 2.000.16 to test by myself. Blind producing is not easy and boot img a really capricious.

Normal, this boot image is for 0.008.06 baseband and evil 1.9 is an old rom based on previous baseband.

The new beta (0008.006) is very good. I've used it everyday for over a week and it has never crashed, everything works and performance is excellent if you turn off all animations.

The final release can't be much better....and this must be very close to what the final release will be like.

Will this Boot force a wipe? I really want to get rid of all the apps that come with the 0.008 bin (twidroid,urfooz,etc.)

No, boot image has no wipe intruction at all in it. It is included in you rom update.zip

even if the answer you have posted in your thread was not really correct, i am agree if you use my boot image in your rom. I have no valid reason to forbid it (this boot image is made for everyone, including you :P) For your information it is not as simple as you have written it in your thread. Adding a simple line is not enough and was not working (unfortunatly).

I was not happy last time and maybe i have lost my nerves. Don't worry i am not rancor, just exigent (with myself, and others)

No problem, use my boot image and report issues to the official homepage. Just mention it in the rom descritpion. That is the only think I am asking for, not more.

I know I have promised it and have started working on it. unfortunatly i don't have to time to reflash my phone back to donut. That is needed to test.

Could you make a nandroid backup and provide me the resulting boot.img file, so that i could try to study it ? Tell me exactly was is the bin file you are using.

Now I'm using the rom "OS_Acer_2.000.16.EMEA.CUS1_A16D_A", and use ACR1.51 custom rom.

I made a update.zip for boot.img, so I can change it in your recovery. :huh: thank you..
