Pulse no longer charges.

A couple of days ago my Pulse stopped charging. I think it was something to do with my computer crashing while it was plugged in via USB, but I'm not sure. I have tried two different USB cables so it's not the cable. The Pulse still turns itself on when it detects the USB cable, but it won't fully boot. It gets to the android logo and then resets and does the same thing over. A couple of times it has got all the way and then says "Battery is empty, shutting down".

I am really hoping that there is some other way to charge the battery, because other than this the phone seems fine. Anyone got bright ideas how to fix it? Thanks.

How can you be sure that it is the battery that is the problem? Could it be corrupted firmware? A few days ago my Pulse went into a reboot loop. Had to re-install firmware.

Already tried 2 different firmwares since it would boot into recovery. Same problem with the 1.8 firmware and U8220 firmware. And before all the charge dissipated Android wouldn't give me the little icon to say it was plugged in via USB and the battery level wouldn't move as if it was charging. I don't think the battery is the problem, I think it is the USB port that will allow it to turn on when plugged in but won't let it charge.

Charger could be faulty?

Try charging via a usb port on your computer.

Nope sorry. Have tried USB ports on two different computers. Also trying a different more powerful charger now. No joy.

Isn't there a fairly common issue with loose/broken USB ports on the Pulse? If your phone is still under warranty, then perhaps get it sent back?

I read about that problem but the socket doesn't seem loose. Bought my Pulse second hand off ebay so no warranty for me ;)

I think the one years manufactires warranty is transferable and its hard to dispute your phone is older then 12 months as its not been on the market that long ;)

Unless he's got the original receipt from T-Mobile, I doubt there's a lot that can be done ;) How long ago did you buy it from eBay? Are you able to contact the seller, maybe they can forward you the original purchase email?

He may not need to receipt. the point of the receipt it to show when you bought a product and its hard to dispute the fact that the pulse is any less then 12 months old

Do you think T-Mobile will still fix it if I don't have a contract with them, unlocked the phone and installed a custom ROM? (I can't even restore the original ROM because it needs to have charge to do that.

I went through the troubleshooter on T-Mobile's site and at the end it said this:

From what you've told us, it looks like you need to visit a T-Mobile store.

There, one of our agents can offer support and, if required, arrange repairs for your phone. Subject to availability , they may also be able to provide you with a courtesy phone during the repairs.

Please note, your phone's warranty will be validated by the store if repairs are required.

I checked with the Store Locator and there are no T-Mobile shops in my country ;) And I very much doubt that installing a custom ROM is covered in the warranty. So I will have to contact the guy off ebay and see if he is able to get anything done.

Some more information that might be of use to helpful people. When I plug the USB cable into the Pulse it sits and blinks its lights at me for about 5 minutes before it tries to boot. That's all the buttons on the front. Then it tries to boot and either resets again or gets into Android and says "Battery empty, shutting down."

As a T-Mobile pulse is lacking, try contacting Huawei directly.

Explain to them how you can about having the Pulse, and see if they will honor any warrenty.
