2.1 rom for CDMA Hero

I'm looking for a stable 2.1 rom for the CDMA hero. I've tried searching here and on google and see a lot about the Villain 5.x roms, but can't for the life of me find a link to any solid information or a download link. Legendroid seems like it's the best one out there for GSM, but I don't see any CDMA Legendroid rom. Can someone help me out here? Thanks!

villainrom is based on cdma rom, but is a port to gsm. legendroid is based on gsm legend afaik, so both aren't cdma roms. got a cdma hero, but from what i heard/read damagecontrol should be worth a try.

edit: sorry, what i meant was: i don't have got a cdma hero...

I put flashed Damagecontrol and so far it's running really well. It looks a lot nicer than 1.5 with a lot of new features. The market with pictures is amazing on helping to decide which apps are worthwhile. One of the problems is I can't figure out if the Damagecontrol ROM uses apps2sd or not, which I really want to try out.

Glad it worked for you ;), I don't really know if it supports Apps2sd, I'm sure it does but he doesn't say anywhere ?

Im running Legendroid and I dont have Apps2sd running as I thought it was automatic ( Didnt realise I had to partition my SD, is it still possible to do that now? or will I have to reflash my rom)

Just go into recovery mode and select 'Partition sdcard' no need to re-flash the ROM just reboot after partitioning the SD Card, If you have an Amon Ra recovery image, just make these sizes

EXT- 512 MB

SWAP-0 MB (As it is not really required)

FAT32- Rest of the space

Check that link out. There are atleast 7-10 different variations of 2.1 ROMS for you to choose from. There are even newest release's where the dev's have found out how to get live wallpapers running with Sense UI. Pretty much check out the threads and pick one. Me personally was running Darchlegend which is the 2.1 Legend ROM. Everything works 100% and most recently I changed to Fresh 2.0d which is based on the latest Sprint Leak also everything working 100%. Most of the ROMs have Apps2SD so its simply a matter of choice but there are plenty of options. Hope that helps.

I partitioned my SD card, though I can't tell if Apps2SD is working at all. Is the only thing I have to do partition the card, or do I have to adjust some settings also? I looked at the thread about partitioning a drive, but I had the Amon recovery image flashed so it's much easier to partition. My free phone memory is sitting at between 100m and 110m when I boot but every time I open an app it goes down (obviously). When I use a task killer it goes back up, but never seems to break around 100m. I installed a few apps and the memory seems to be staying pretty constant, so I believe it's working. Just want to double check to make sure I don't have to do other things to get it working to its full potential.

Sorry about all the newbie questions, but before I got my hero I never did anything out of the ordinary with any of my previous phones, but since the performance increases so substantially when rooting and installing a custom rom on the hero, I had to do it. It's pretty overwhelming not knowing anything about rooting or installing custom roms but it's been a couple of months and I think I understand at least the basics of it now.

Just a warning, Spooke, partitioning does wipe your SD card, so backup your data.

OK, im going to assume you can get to the CMD prompt.

Type this...

adb remount

adb shell

ls /system/sd/app/

If you get a list of your apps then your apps2sd is working correctly.

I could previously, but now when I type that it gives me a "device not found" error.

It's on. It's on by default and I didn't change it.

hmmmm and you are in the AndroidSDK\tools directory???

Should be C:(directory you saved androidsdk)\tools

if not make sure you do cd \(directory you saved it)\tools

then go with the adb remount commands i put earlier

Alternatively check from the phone. Either use a terminal (via eg Better Terminal Emulator Pro) to execute ls /system/sd/app or a suitable file explorer (for root), such as Root Explorer, to check for the contents of /system/sd/app

Ok, the apps appear to be still on the system memory instead of the SD card... Should they automatically switch over by simply creating the partitions, or do I have to now tell the phone to move them? The guide was pretty fuzzy since I was using Amons and not able to follow the directions closely.

Edit: from the looks of it it should automatically switch the apps simply by partitioning and rebooting the phone (which I did), so now I'm wondering if the DC rom has Apps2sd.

Edit2: was looking at the wrong spot, it seems like some apps were transferred over, but only about 7. There are a ton still being stored on system memory. Does anyone know the average number of free memory that should be available if apps are on the SD card (meaning the amount left after the system information)?

What makes you think that? If some have been transferred over & are accessible, that means files were moved & the original /data/app directory replaced with a symbolic link to /system/sd/app, in which case there can be nothing in the original /data/app directory, since it doesn't exist anymore, aiui.

I still have files in the /data/app folder, I also have files in the /system/app folder, as well as the system/sd/app folder. The system/sd/app folder only has 9 files in it, whereas the other 2 still have a ton.

apps2sd doesn't touch /system/app which contains the apps built in to the ROM. As for /data/app, you should see it 'contains' exactly the same apps that are in /system/sd/app, as /data/app is just a link pointing to /system/sd/app (depending on how you attempt to list the directory contents; some methods will show the link rather than follow it).

If it contains different apps then app2sd never finished moving the apps, didn't delete any & never created the link. Either way, apps2sd must be part of your ROM or the app copy wouldn't have occurred at all.

Also, even when apps2sd is working correctly, free space in /data will decrease as apps are installed/first-run because the dalvik cache is still stored there; I mention that as some users take that as indication that apps2sd isn't working.
