Hi there! 'been following the forum for a while, and just wanted to say that this is a great source of information for a newbie like myself ;) thanks

but i have a question: my uni uses vpn plus to the wifi all over campus, and without vpn i cant use the net with my brand new pulse, which was kinda my reason for buying a phone with wifi...

i looked around here and on a few more places on the net, and i found openvpn of course. got it installed and everything, but now i'm stuck with the config files... does anyone know how to create one, or is there a program that i can use to create one on the phone?

it would be nice to have a short stepbystep guide to configuring the openvpn client! (if its even possible)

btw i'm using the vanilla custom rom!

thanks

I think what you're in need of is a VPN client for your phone, not your PC. Android 1.6 and above seems to have built-in VPN support, but I don't think 1.5 has it. Have a search on the market for TunnelDroid. I haven't had a chance to test it myself yet, but from what I've read it looks like that is what you want. ;)

thanks for the reply!

in the first post i meant that i have the client app on my phone, OpenVPN from the market, i know i should use that ;) my problem is that i cant configure it, dont know how...

btw i checked out tunneldroid, and it was discontinued, merged with another app called openvpnsettings, and i have that on my phone as well. it asks for a .config file to be placed on the sd card. my guess is that this file should contain the settings for my connection... i was wondering if there's a client out there that would create this config file, or even better, a client which would simplify this whole vpn thing into one app, like on the 1.6 phones or the iphone...

If you have the windows client, I would assume the config file will be the same as the one in the openvpn settings dir in program files.

I do apologize, having re-read your post it makes a lot more sense now! Was at work when I replied, hung over... ;) Not entirely sure on how the OpenVPN Android client works, I'll have a play later on and report back if I get any success! ;)
