How to make skins/themes?

Well I want to make some themes for so many applications but how? I know for every application it's different. But I don't know from where to start. Should i extract files from .cab than replace and repack or create a new .cab file that interacts with the program or every program has it's own file extension and guides how to make theme. How it's done. Some of the apps I want to make theme for are Iconsoft phone ex, resco photo manager, resco contact manager and there are more but from where to start?

there are themes for Spam alert, so just look out for them and try with opening .cab and you'll se what you come up with

for last 2 i don't believe they are skinned easily. Maybe you should start with M2D skins there are just plain .png's or WM 6.5.X themes-also made with png's.

How to open cabs? I've downloaded one dialer. And opened it with winrar so I could change some images and etc. I understand the file setup.xml and can open it. But at what language is it writen or where I can read some commands so I can edit it. And my other problem is the other files are unkown

In the setup.xml

there are lines like this

</characteristic>

</characteristic>

I suppose this installs the images but why the picture "96_vibration_glyph.png" is extracted from the file "0CAB1076.002". And what is more special for this file "0CAB1076.002" why it isn't just a picture.

Oh and I have something more I can't understand. What exactly are doing this lines. They are at the beginning of the document. It's a dialer from Krazy Radd.

no dude, you got it wrong....

WinRAR opens Windows (NOT mobile) cabs. Windows mobile cabs are very different, they are same as WinCE. So use WinCeCab Manager. It's not free, but you know... khm... google... ;)

it is very simple to open a cab. But with this dialer i believe it won't go the same way, i see dll's inside. To open dll's(or .exe, .mui) you have to use Res Hacker. it's free ;) dll's are also for taskbars, waitboxes, changing names in titanium(spining 4 colours) etc... i tried even skining Touch Player, just by opening it in Res Hacker and replacing files inside ...If you Lots of things can be done, but you can f* up your phone really good if you don't know what you are doing.

also get yourself msigner for signing your hacked dll's, exe's, if you dont sign them they will show errors.

Thanks for info. But I still have questions ;). I've decided to make themes for the omnia lite applications(to remake them). I've started with the sound manager. I opened it with the Wince Cab manager extractet the two dll's than opened them with Res Hacker but I can't understand anything inside. Only things like this.

How to change font color background and everything?

Oh I didn't understood the part with signing what it does? How it's done?
