Guest h5iangfu Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Hi all i'm new to android so please excuse my silly question (and my poor english by the way ;) ). As everyone I think, I installed a sort of taskmanager and spend 10 sec every minut going there and closing every unused process. So my question is : is there a way to shut down application process when quiting one directly, or this way of keeping apps in the background is the normal way of android, and i have no other choice than use a third party app to regulary clear the memory ? thanks !
Guest gregDT Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 The claim from Android is that the system does a perfectly good job of managing the phones resources. So task killers as a waste of time as they do nothing that Android isn't already doing better itself. That is the claim. Whether this is true I do not know but you could look at these two web sites to help you decide. http://geekfor.me/faq/you-shouldnt-be-usin...r-with-android/ http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/...s.html#proclife this is a bit too tech for me.
Guest zorm Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 Thanks. That's the most comprehensive & yet to the point response I've seen on this issue. Great links.
Guest squirreleater Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 TYVM for your answer. There is an app called 'automatic task killer' that you can tell it what to close and when the phone goes to sleep it closes them.Does a good job of stopping apps clogging up in the background. Oh, my thoughts on Android managing tasks, Try running google earth and skymap, then leave them in the background! It slows my nexus down, let alone my old Hero.
