Guest BigBearMDC Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) Hi guys Edit: This ROM isn't working. It's stuck at the bootscreen. You can try it anyway if you want. As you ma have noticed before there's a new U8220-6 ROM out. I rooted it and you can download and flash it to your device here. DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING! Thanks to tmobilepulse, he found the ROM ;) PS: report your findings! Greetings, BigBear Edited April 17, 2010 by BigBearMDC

Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) any reports? I'm flashing it in about 10 minutes. I'll report back soon ;) Edited April 16, 2010 by MarcusHenrique
Guest jmmL Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Is this just for U8220-6? That is, will it not work with ordinary T-Mobile Pulses and other U8220s sold in Europe? Also, any news on those new apps? Even the names don't seem to give much of a clue..

Guest preetkk Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I'm flashing it in about 10 minutes. I'll report back soon ;) your 10 minutes are up....... ;) how did it go?
Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 your 10 minutes are up....... ;) how did it go? A customer came in here, going to flash in now! Though BigBear just said he changed the kernel with MCR's one, probably my screen won't respond now.. Hey Bear didn't know you're going to do that ;) If it don't work I'll flash the original rom from huawei.

Hey Bear didn't know you're going to do that ;) If it don't work I'll flash the original rom from huawei. Yeah just wanted to tell you that. I did it to make it usable for the rest of the users, as U8220-6 users can flash the original ROM I think :-) Greetings, BigBear
Guest ozren Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I tried to flash it, but it aborted, reporting missing file?

Error: "Can't chown/mod /system/bin/bootdeb (No such file or directory) E:Failure at line 40: set_perm ......" I'm downloading original one now, though it won't be rooted =/
Guest BigBearMDC Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I tried to flash it, but it aborted, reporting missing file? Could maybe someone else try to resign it and see if it works? Greetings, BigBear
Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Could maybe someone else try to resign it and see if it works? Greetings, BigBear I don't think it's a sign problem. When that's the issue it shows the error message before start copying files.
Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) I'm no lucky 2day. The rapidshare file someone posted at the other topic wasn't in .zip name, I renamed it but I think it wasn't signed. Now downloading again directly from huawei. At least it's faster now =S It was faster.. 10kb/s now =/ Edited April 16, 2010 by MarcusHenrique
Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I did it now. But I'm not happy.. There's some apps, games, but it's all pretty un-usable, no matter wich language you put most of the apps and menu stays in chinese.. If I'm not mistaken there's even a chinese keyboard input mode. And it kind of fu**ed up my recovery mode since I can't nandroid restore or flash other update.zip. I'll try installing recovery mode again and post the news later.
Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 I'm officialy screwed. Can someone help please? After aplying the update my restore mode is showing this errors: E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log E: Can't open CACHE:recovery/log E: Can't find MISC: Then when I try to Nand Restore it shows: Error: run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via adb! But I can't eve use adb, it doesn't find the device. Maybe the easiest way is to apply my preaviously update, but where can I find it? Please 2day is friday, i can't be without my mobile =/

If so, you should be able to boot the recovery image and also have adb access, and then you should be able to run the script.. Btw, the one I uploaded to rapidshare is a direct copy of Huawei's version. It's not in the update.zip format (which you use Amon's recovery image for) but in the update.APP format, which uses the built-in updating within android (I think). Sorry this post isn't very helpful but it's getting late here and I can't think straight..

Now about fastboot, adb, etc. The problem is that even fastboot mode is screwed! I got into recovery mode using fastboot, but I can't do anything from there because of the errors I've posted. Now I've got adb working after flashing a rooted boot.img - But i can't use the command nandroid-mobile.sh, it seems like nandroid isn't installed for some reason, it says: nandroid-mobile.sh not found, in the shell. Does anyone knows how to install nandroid so it works from adb?
Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Nevermind, from shell I was able to do a 'reboot recovery' and recovery mode worked well. Nandroid restored and now I have the "April update" with my original rom =S The only problem now is that I have a boot screen in chinese now before Huawei logo appears =P

I suggest doing the latter. Then you'll have adb and nandroid-mobile.sh.
Guest BigBearMDC Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 Marcus, you flashed the UPDATA.APP file. This does not only reflash android but your entire mobile phone. Thus you will loose root and all files that are needed by the amonra recovery to work properly. If you want that ROM rooted you have to do this:Get the boot.imgsplit itunpack the ramdiskopen "default.prop" and add the following:# # ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES # ro.secure=0 ro.allow.mock.location=0 ro.debuggable=1 persist.service.adb.enable=1[/code]repack the ramdiskrepack the boot.imgcopy your rooted boot.img into the recovery imageflash the recovery image After that your phone will be rooted. That's what I did too, well I extracted the UPDATA.APP file and the system image, put it together with a rooted boot.img and added su - voila. But it seems like autosign didn't work properly. Also, I think I have to add some more things into the ROM. Sorry for uploading it without testing, guys ;) Greetings, BigBear

But I wish I could root it like you said but it's impossible to me to repack the boot.img file since there's no alternative for mkbootimg in windows ;)
