New Liquid Official 2.1 ROM Release ?

Hi There,

I am using the official 1.6 ROM on my Liquid and when I ran the System Update app this evening it shows me there is new 2.1 ROM but when I click "Download" button then open update.url file in my PC it start downloading the old 1.6 version.

Anyone else getting the new 2.1 update ?

Very Interesting, can't test though, running 2.1 beta...

EDIT: Something that may be weird too, I checked Acer FTP and the Liquid folder disappeared...

I think almost everyone here runs custom ROM so it will be hard to test on different device...

BTW which ftp site you tried caused I tried ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com and the s100 folder is still there and showing only 1.6 ROMS ?

i am on 1.6 gen1 1.008, the one with the russian keybaord. i get no update shown

can't confirm it. i've tried to check for updates with 2.000.16_EMEA_GEN1. negativ.

On yours there is a s100 folder, looks like I checked the wrong one.

But still, this is probably supposed to be Android 2.1, the date is today 16/04/2010, which seem a good moment to release it, the 2.1 number just says it, if it was an 1.6 update it would at least be called 2.10X.0X and not just 2.1.

Well we just have to wait and see. But seems we're not that far from the release ;) .

edit: what is happening, when you press "download link"?

When you click "Download" button it creates new file in your SD card called "update.url" and you suppose to connect your Liquid to your PC and then run the new file in internet explorer and it will start downloading the new ROM to your PC.

But what's happening right now it start downloading the old 1.6 ROM instead of the 2.1 ROM

this comes just as google announced that all manufacturers were going to do an official 2.1 update for their phones to hinder fragmentation.

Lol don't panic guys, chick thought we were talking about the 2.000.48, which is a late 1.6 Donut update.

But we can see there a 2.1, and we don't know anything else, since no one can download it.

I really hope it's the Eclair 2.1 ROM. But I have my doubts. I hate to say this but even the 2.0000.16 1.6 update could've been confused with Android 2.0 & 2.1. I'm wondering if some of the earlier rumors from Acer actually meant a version 2 of 1.6 instead of Android 2.0/1, which did come out. But an official confirmation about an Eclair 2.1 ROM for Acer Liquid A1 is still missing. I really think it's in Acer's best interest to support it since the Liquid E will have exact same hardware, it would be insulting to us A1 (early adopters who helped Acer in the Android smartphone area) to get shafted.

Is the liquid E officially out ? I think it's not. Maybe it's just not been released because their rom isn't ready, who knows ?

Anyway, when the liquid E is out , I'm pretty sure some guy is gonna be smart enough to pull the rom and make a release for us, regular Liquid users. So it's just a matter of time.

Well I think 2.000.16 already had an A when I downloaded it, I don't think this means anything.
